Top Scientist Resigns from Top Science Org – Admits Global Warming Is a Scam

Top US scientist Hal Lewis resigned this week from his post with the biased American Physical Society. He admitted global warming climate change was nothing but a scam in his resignation letter.

The Telegraph reported:

The following is a letter to the American Physical Society released to the public by Professor Emiritus of physics Hal Lewis of the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Sent: Friday, 08 October 2010 17:19 Hal Lewis From: Hal Lewis, University of California, Santa Barbara To: Curtis G. Callan, Jr., Princeton University, President of the American Physical Society 6 October 2010

Dear Curt:

When I first joined the American Physical Society sixty-seven years ago it was much smaller, much gentler, and as yet uncorrupted by the money flood (a threat against which Dwight Eisenhower warned a half-century ago).

Indeed, the choice of physics as a profession was then a guarantor of a life of poverty and abstinence—it was World War II that changed all that. The prospect of worldly gain drove few physicists. As recently as thirty-five years ago, when I chaired the first APS study of a contentious social/scientific issue, The Reactor Safety Study, though there were zealots aplenty on the outside there was no hint of inordinate pressure on us as physicists. We were therefore able to produce what I believe was and is an honest appraisal of the situation at that time. We were further enabled by the presence of an oversight committee consisting of Pief Panofsky, Vicki Weisskopf, and Hans Bethe, all towering physicists beyond reproach. I was proud of what we did in a charged atmosphere. In the end the oversight committee, in its report to the APS President, noted the complete independence in which we did the job, and predicted that the report would be attacked from both sides. What greater tribute could there be?

How different it is now. The giants no longer walk the earth, and the money flood has become the raison d’être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.

It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford’s book organizes the facts very well.) I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.

So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it…

biggest story of of the year

If not the century. Physics is my life. Physicists as an occupational group tend to be pretty straightforward people. Who has the time for such nonsense as this, when we are at the cusp of proving our point, and the work and the data streams are intense? Real Scientists have no use at all for the Lysenkoist bullshit that is passing as 'science' in the political sphere. There's just no time. I'll stake my life and my career on it. (Easy for me to say, under the cloak of web anonymity) The thing is, results come from BIG projects, which use BIG machines. (guess my field) Big stuff requires Big Money, which is by nature political. In order to wheedle the funding necessary to keep going, an amount of political kiss-assery may be necessary. Your sails accomodate the prevailing winds if you want to reach your destination.

But the bluff has been called, and the cards are on the table (less the ones still hidden up the sleeves). Science is science and not an agenda; some amount of healing will occur, but regaining the trust of the public, who magnanimously provide the necessary funding, especially concerning topics arcane and exotic, will be hard work. Work that a physics major probably hasn't considered.

I've been searching for 20 minutes for a profile on Prof Emeritus Hal Lewis, University of California, Santa Barbara and have come up with nada.

Hmmmm.

The professor will be deemed a senile old man and mocked, ridiculed and shunned.

Hal Lewis’ resignation should be the lead story on every TV and media news outlet.

It won’t be, since most of the Regime Media is as corrupt as the Global Warming Industry.

Agreed. Good for him, but how sad. He sounds disillusioned, and how could he not? His principles were betrayed.

The public will not hear or care about this by way of the MSM, but the good news is that enough valid questioning of global warming garbage has filtered out the public that a majority of people don’t buy it.

The problem is, the schools are still indoctrinating children at a breakneck pace. I liken it to my education about Joseph McCarthy and the Communist threat, only to find out as an adult that the campaign to smear and discredit people like McCarthy and Whittaker Chambers was a coordinated campaign from the Left buttressed by what they wrote in our school textbooks, and that the problem of communists in the government was a REAL one.

All these kids who have been force fed this stuff for years are going to have to figure out how to deal with the fact they were fed a bunch of lies to enable political and economic gain for leftists.

I'd like to know what to do with all the American school teachers who taught an entire generation of children a “hoax”? This has extreme consequences for our nation future.

Listen, all of y'all. Life is a journey, the sojourner is up to his own tastes. Here is a man, a professional, who sees what time it is. He is speaking his piece. Consider yourself at the point where you're ready to cash in your chips: to apply for your pension. Or perhaps you've been doing it a while. The product of your life, in a self-redemption sense. Make your amends now. Why not? You are basically an honest man, and bullshit being a malignant factor in your career, you do your best to excise it, cure it while you're still alive to do it. Your grandchildren deserve no less. Civilisation deserves no less.

Here’s a transcript of a very long rambling oral interview of Prof. Hal Lewis from 1986 which explains why there’s no profile on him:

Transcript
Dr. Aaserud:
Your papers — correspondence, notes, manuscripts, things of that sort — what’s the status of those? That’s another thing we’re interested in.
Dr. Lewis:
Yes. I really don’t have them, you know. I’ve long since either lost in moving or discarded everything that I had. So I have no papers around from JASON, if that’s what you mean.
Aaserud:
No, generally — both JASON and generally speaking.
Lewis:
There are lots of things, but they’re scattered in a complicated way. Generally speaking, I throw things away after a few years, so the only things I have are the things that have accumulated over the last few years and are relevant to the things I’m actually doing these days.
Aaserud:
That’s another thing that the Center is strongly involved in — just saving papers for historical purposes.
Lewis:
Yes, I understand. But I have enough trouble keeping up with current papers.
Aaserud:
But if for any reason you wanted help or advice on what to keep and how to keep it and where to go and all that, then we’d be happpy to help on that. But for JASON in particular, you don’t have anything.
Lewis:
No, I don’t.
Aaserud:
I should have asked you this long before; I may have. I called your secretary about a biography, or a vitae at any rate.
Lewis:
Yes. I don’t usually keep a standard vitae. When people want to know who I am, I just tell them what they need to know.
Aaserud:
That’s what we’ll do here too, then. A bibliography — do you have that?
Lewis:
Well, they do have one of those at school, but it has nothing to do with these subjects.
Aaserud:
That’s the problem with this kind of area.
Lewis:
I have a bibliography of the things I’ve written in physics, but that’s really all I have.
Aaserud:
That would be useful too, of course. You don’t have a copy of that here? I am interviewing Hal Lewis in his home on the 6th of July, 1986. We’ll discuss mostly your JASON involvement, but with an eye to the rest of your career as well. It’s up to you how much of that you will cover, and we’ll start with the beginning. You were born in New York City on the 1st of October, 1923.
Lewis:
That is correct.
