Republicans beware: Mark Kirk is a liberal
http://dailycaller.com ^ | OCt 7,2010 | Tamara Holder

What does Illinois Tea Party candidate Michael Labno have to do to get some attention around here? Does he have to be more like Christine O’Donnell: should he make some bizarre comment about meatballs, get caught buying vibrators and boil some frogs?

Or does he have to be more like Illinois Republican candidate Mark Kirk: shall he create an imaginary life story where he single-handedly killed Osama bin Laden with his .50 caliber sniper rifle, was awarded a medal of honor and then devoted his life to reading fairytales to nursery school students?

On October 5, 2010, Rasmussen Reports announced that a “statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Kirk picking up 45% of the vote, while Giannoulias earns 41% support. Four percent (4%) back Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones. Another five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided.”

Rasmussen cannot justify its failure to name the “some other candidate” who has 1% more support than Jones. Disappointing. Rasmussen had a duty to name Labno in the interest of fairness to all parties, to ensure more accurate reporting by the media, and because voters rely heavily on polling numbers to help them make a decision.

Labno shouldn’t be ignored for his lack of wack.

Warning to Republicans (or those who are considering voting Republican): If you vote for Mark Kirk, you will be voting for a liberal. So, if you are going to vote for a liberal, then make it easier on yourself and simply vote for Alexi Giannoulias, since he’s the real Democrat.

Wait, before you get all worked-up and accuse me, an Illinois Democrat, of trying to persuade the right to lean left, please continue reading because my point has zilch to do with Giannoulias…I simply want to make sure that the person you vote for accurately and properly represents you.

Michael Labno may be your guy, instead of Mark Kirk. Why?

Kirk is a Republican. Or is he? Kirk voted to allow the government to confiscate your legally owned firearm in the event of a national emergency. He is pro-choice, saved millions in funding for Planned Parenthood and was just one of 17 Republicans to vote to fund abortions for female inmates. Kirk is for cap and trade and voted for TARP not once, but twice.

Labno is a self-proclaimed “recovering Republican; three years sober, officially.” He wonders why we still haven’t found Osama bin Laden and is disappointed with the Republicans’ support of the bailouts. He wants small businesses and community banks to thrive again. He is pro-life and pro-guns. Labno owns his positions and he hasn’t manufactured his qualifications or made up outlandish stories to gain support.

Fred Newbrough, one of Labno’s Facebook friends, wrote, “We are tired of the same old games by the GOP…Kirk is the most horrible candidate imaginable for the Senate. He isn’t even reliably fiscally conservative. The good thing is that you, Mike, are in the race. Illinois has a real choice: a Tea Party choice, a conservative choice, a libertarian choice.”

Illinois voters, before you allow a senator to drive you to Washington, make sure “some other candidate” isn’t hidden in a blind-spot; otherwise, he may crash before you even get to your final destination.

Possibly, but I can’t confirm it for sure. I think we have enough against him to defeat him on his Socialist record and lies before getting to where he likes to put his dipstick.

At least I’m not stabbing conservatives

I'm not stabbing conservatives, I vote for the most conservative candidate (who can get elected) in the general.

I’m sure you would have loved voting for him.

Sorry, I'd vote for Rubio.

The fact you believe a Kirk “victory” is a blow to Emperor Zero is what’s a real hoot.

Only one of several reasons to vote for Kirk--not the most important, but undeniably a symbolic victory. If you don't think that would be a blow to Obama's enormous ego, you don't really get Obama.

I agree with everything you said to me. That’s why I already considered voting for Kirk.

Well fortunately your vote is in Tennesee where it can do no harm. Fortunately, most voters in Illinios will likely vote for Kirk regardless of your self important “What we’re trying to do on this thread” which is to help a liberal Democrat win. That should be great for the country, won’t it? Anyway, I’ve discussed this long enough with you. Trying to reason with an absolutist is an absolute waste of time.

Phil, you could probably add some insight to this discussion being in Kirk’s district. My perception of the district is that it’s suburban Chicago and thus likely liberal-leaning. Do you think Kirk had to adopt some liberal positions to preserve his seat and that as Senator for the entire state he’d be able to move to the right just a bit? Granted, it’s still a deep blue state mainly because of Chicago, but I wonder if as Senator he’d be able to move more right which would keep the down-state vote happy. What is your sense?

1. You don’t know you can trust him 58% of the time. That is just the very best you can possibly hope to get out of him. Look at Lindsey Graham. He was a congressman who, unless you looked very closely, appeared to be a good conservative. He was elected to Strom Thurman’s senate seat in SC. Once he got in there he went lib crazy. Now you can’t pry him out of office. He’s another of those sexually ambiguous, unmarried, ‘people say he might be gay’ kind of guys, like Kirk. We have one of those types in my state, Charlie Crist. Nothing good ever comes of them. Ever.

2. This is not about voting for the libertarian. Libertarians can be RINOs too. This is about standing for principle and doing what is right.

Yes, I think that Kirk needed to have liberal views to win. No, if he wins, statewide, he won’t move to the right. For at least the next six years, he would be pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-tax increases, pro-spending increases, and pro-illegal aliens.

Heh, heh. I guess it’s a good thing then that Crist didn’t appoint himself to take over Mel Martinez’s senate seat. Because you sure would have voted for him to become governor to give him that opportunity. After all, he won the primary.

I’m certain you vote for the “most conservative” even if they are democrats and the only thing conservative about them is an (R) next to their name.

A blow to his ego, electing his RINO puppet ? That would be a bigger boost to his ego than electing Alexi !

I find it curious you refuse to discuss Kirk’s policy positions and votes. You notably dodged this: “I’ll give you another... how ‘bout listing all the points you agree with Mark Kirk on ? Pro-abort, pro-illegals, pro-big government, anti-2A ? Which ones ? Why should Conservatives vote for a Socialist RINO who will switch to the Democrat party after they’re done doing damage to our side ? I’m very interested.”

I’m still waiting...

I’m certain you vote for the “most conservative”

Me too. You should hold your breath, I promise we'll get a DeMint in Illinois to vote for if you do.

I understand that you’re not thrilled with your options. But make know mistake about it, Kirk is better than Murray. And if the only thing he does is give the GOP a majority in the Senate...than he’s worth voting for.

And you’ve got 6 years to mount a campaign, to take him out in his next primary.

I’m sorry I’m not quite as gullible as you are. I don’t fall for lib tricks like you do.

Remember the last part of my statement to you — “you vote for the “most conservative” even if they are democrats and the only thing conservative about them is an (R) next to their name.”

Thanks.

While we are asking RINO’s in Del. and AK to get behind the (R) nominee. I think it’s a bit hypocritical of us not to do the same with Kirk.

With or without him, the Senate will be a lot more conservative soon. I’d just hate to see him lose and have the Senate split 50-50 with Joe Biden casting the deciding vote.

I find it curious you refuse to discuss Kirk’s policy positions and votes.

I find it curious that you dismissed it when I cited his ACU ratings and now accuse me of refusing to talk about his votes. But okay, how about his votes against Obamacare and the stimulus for 2? But why do you think I'm some big proponent of the guy? Did I ever say I'm a fan? Obviously in his time in the House he's taken conservative positions 58% of the time--and in as much as he's done that I support him in those things. I can think we need the seat and the 58% of the time he'll vote with our side without him being my favorite American political. I never said I'm some fan of the guy or all of his positions. I'm not here to say he's some great conservative standard bearer. I am here to say I'd rather have a plate of 58% of what I want than a plate of 100% of what I don't--which none of you absolutists can ever refute with your "burn the village in order to save it" mentality.

And based on what do you assume he'll switch to the Democrats? Because one idiot in Pennsylvania did? How is that any worse than a Democrat taking the seat at the get-go in winning the election as you seem to advocate? He never turned Democrat while in the House. If he turns Democrat, then we'll relish the opportunity to take him out at the knees like we did Specter. But I'm not going to say roll out the red carpet for a Democrat to win this seat based on fears of what MIGHT happen with the Republican. Sheesh, if that's our driving anxiety let's just hand over all our seats to the Dems so we don't have to worry about what Republicans might do.

Anyway, as stated I'm moving on with my day. We've wasted enough of each other's time. Neither of us has a vote in Illinois, nor are we going to convince the other, so let's leave it to the people of Illinois to decide.

I’ve seen no evidence for that. Evidence in opposition: He was married for 8 years, and previously dated and was engaged to another woman in the 1990s. He also is a Naval officer.

Would you feel better if he won and was “bribed” to switch parties to have the Dems maintain control ? We’re talking about an extraordinarily deceitful liberal weasel here. We don’t owe Kirk anything, since there was no legit primary, just a Chicago-style, “my way or you and your family will be wearing concrete sneakers in the middle of Lake Michigan” fix.
