Rio Grande Valleys KRGV television reports that another American was killed on Falcon Lake by an undocumented worker.* The frantic 911 call a wife made after her husband was shot by Mexican pirates has been released. Its a first hand account of those terrifying moments on the water as David and Tiffany Hartley came under attack. In the end only Tiffany would survive. Dispatcher: Hello? Maam? Yes. Okay. Are you sure that your husband got shot? Tiffany: Yes. In his head. Dispatcher: Okay. Yeah. Was he thrown out of the jet ski that hes in the water or something? Tiffany: He was thrown off the jet ski and I couldnt pick him up to get him on mine. (sobbing) Oh God. Dispatcher: Maam? Were you shot at on the Mexican side or on the US side? So it was the Mexican Side. Okay, did you see anybody? Tiffany: There were three boats.
Tiffany Hartley told deputies she and her husband David were jet skiing near the town of old Guerrrero. Hartley told investigators her husband was shot in the head and killed. She says she was forced to leave his body behind as the gunmen fired more bullets at her Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez Jr. thinks those boats were pirates working for the drug cartel. Hes been warning residents for months to stay off the water. The pirates are patrolling the Mexican side of the lake and robbing boaters at gun point. Gonzalez wants authorities in Mexico to search for David Hartleys body, however he thinks it may already be too late. Hartley did tell authorities after the shooting she got help from a man on shore The good Samaritan wants to remain anonymous because he fears for his life Three boats approached them, waving guns talking in Spanish, he said. They got scared, spooked then they heard the gunshots going on. She could see they were hitting the water and the water was coming up at them all of a sudden she sees her husband flying off. Tiffany told him she turned around to go take care of her husband but two pirates went after her jetski. One pirate held a gun to her head. Once he left she tried to pull her husband body onto her jetski but she didnt have the strength. CHANNEL 5 NEWS has been tracking at least five violent incidents on the lake over the past 5 months. -April 30th: Four heavily armed men boarded two boats near the Old Guerrero area demanding money. -May 6th: Two armed men approached a boat near marker 14 and demanded cash. -May 16th: Five armed men boarded a boat on the United States side of the lake near marker 7. -Aug 31st: Falcon lake pirates, using a small boat marked Game Wardin tried to stop a Texas fisherman. Then of course the worst violence incident to date happened on Thursday September 30th when David Hartley was murdered. Authorities say the robbers are believed to be members of a drug trafficking organization. Theyre heavily armed using AK-47s or AR-15 rifles to threaten their victims. Rather than sealing the border and shutting down Mexican drug cartels operating with impunity in the southwest, the Obama White House is instead suing Arizona and its law enforcement arms to prevent it from protecting American citizens. Remember this outrage when you enter the voting booth in November.
* The left-wing loon Gloria Allred claims the term illegal alien is demeaning.
Maybe this is the start of a trend. Our government will deny it, of course.
The Mexicans are getting paid 50$/hr, which Rino McCain says Americans won’t work for.
Ok, I guess I’ll have to be the first. The wife is involved. Let me get this straight. They shoot HIM IN THE HEAD. He’s dead. But her? No, they just put a gun to her head. They don’t molest her, rape her (have you seen her? - I have!) and then just leave her even though she could obviously identify them. They leave, but instead of staying with the body of her husband she leaves. Smell? Oh yeah, it smells. Let me see. The other version is “we were on a cruise and she got drunk and fell over-board.” Smell-o-vision!
Something don’t smell right about this story.
Take comfort in the knowledge that The Rookie has said we’ll be able to absorb the next terrorist attack.
Insurance scam? I’ve read the couple lived in Mexico for 2-1/2 years, returning to the U.S. just a few months ago. Mexico is a great place for a “dead” man to hide out-especially if he knows the country.
i saw her on fox this morning. The newslady asks her something like “why do you think they shot your husband?” and the wife says “i didn’t have anything do do with it! “ it was so weird and out of context and very defensive even though no one implied she had anything to do with it. weird.
I don’t know if she’s in involved but on ABC this morning she said they ignored warnings and went to the Mexican side of the lake because he wanted to take photos of an old mission church. That in no way excuses what happened to the husband, but knowing what goes on there I think it was a foolish risk.
She needs a Perry Mason, pronto.
Yea....I just saw her on Gretta......this story does not add up.....and her demeanor did not fit that of a grieving widow....more like a “grieving” beneficiary.......
yeah... that was my first thought....this seems a little contrived... think about it, they go into an area that they know is infested with drug cartels, that has recently had incidents with people out fishing and boating, causing warnings to be issued..... and then they wander over to the mexican side...pretty good way to try and cover up a crime.....
In many ways this does not pass the smell test..could he have been involved in drug trafficking?Or could they have been thought to have seen something?
What is this place?? Demo-rat underground??
bttt
ditto, she did it.
Arm some WWII vintage Catalina flying boats and go after the pirates.
Lots of bits and pieces to this story from various sources. So it's hard to get a full grasped of what actually happened.
Apparently this couple lived in Reyonsa, Mexico for some 2 1/2 years before moving back to the US a couple of months ago. They may have had a false sense of security because of having been in Mexico for a while.
"Early Show" co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez asked Tiffany, "You were returning from a day of sightseeing with David when this happened. I know that you had lived in Mexico for three years before moving back to the U.S. a couple of months ago. Did you know that there had been a spate of robberies on the lake? And did you have any concerns about going out that day?"Tiffany replied, "We had heard about the pirates, and them robbing fishermen and whoever were over there. But we hadn't heard anything for several months. So, no, we had no concerns whatsoever of going over there, living in Reynosa, I mean, you live there for two and a half years, and we're not people who, you know, blend in. We stand out. We don't blend in. And we lived there, and we lived a life of no fear. That we were not going to stop living our life and adventures. David loves the history. That's what he loves. And that's why we were there that day."

The sheriff decided she's not guilty because she "was unable to stop sobbing".Maybe it's a hoax (for insurance money, for eg), maybe not, but the notion that a lot of tears automatically disproves guilt is based on how grief stricken people act in Hollywood movies, not reality. Plenty of people respond to grief by going into a nearly catatonic state. They are in a state of near-shock, and so they don't cry at all . So tears or lack thereof don't prove anything one way or another, and I do agree with you that this story seems a little "off".
