File this under the pseudo-Christian column. President Obama concluded his speech at this week's Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute gala with:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights, life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
The U.S. Declaration of Independence reads:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Poser.

I thought this got debunked yesterday.
The title is a little misleading. He didn’t actually remove it from the declaration, he left it out of his quote.

First of all, this is not a NEWS item, it is a blog posting. It should be in bloggers, not news/activism.
Second, this goes to a blog posting on the blog "Sad Hill News", but the entry hat-tips the blog "Weasel Zippers", which essentially has the SAME information.
Even to the point of posting the comparison between Obama's comments and the Declaration. So this blogger didn't even really do his own regurgitation of the news, he took some other blogger's regurgitation of the news.
But wait, it gets worse. Go over to Weasel Zippers, and see who THEY hat tip ---

Which itself was a "vanity" of sorts, in that it cited the white house transcript of the news, but the article wasn't the transcript, but the poster's view of the transcript (thus why the headline wasn't a real headline from the white house transcript, but the posters).
So here is what we have come to: An original post of the transcript (which didn't need to be excerpted, being a public document) was instead excerpted and described by a well-meaning poster. A blogger picked it up, fleshed it out nicely by including the video of the event, and citing the declaration. That was picked up by another blogger. and then that BLOG was posted back here as news.
This is why we end up with 20 stories in one day talking about the exact same thing.
What is FR for, getting NEWS that we can discuss, or winning the award for the most threads started? It's hard to tell these days.
Obama believes rights come from government, not a Creator.
Oops, you beat me to it — but partly because I decided to go down the rabbit hole and see where the story came from. I posted that results — this was a blog entry of a blog entry that started with a free republican post of the transcript.
So there you go, people are now blog pimping on free republic using source material from — free republic.
Muzzie is as Muzzie does.
That is exactly the same as the distortions and circular repetitions in the Mainstream media for decades.

Staying on top of who and who hasn’t heard about specific news can be a bit tricky.
For the record, we did not just copy and paste Weasel Zippers article. We added video, our own comments and pulled from the original source. Only the White House transcript portions are the same - and it HAS to be, since we’re quoting it.
In short, the transcript was not an interpretation, which is exactly why Sad Hill News performed additional research, then ADDED the discovered video — to debunk any possible transcript error claims. New information = news.
During searches prior to posting on Free Republic, we sometimes see articles repeated over and over and over...sometimes word-for-word. So we certainly understand your concern...just wish you hadn’t singled us out.
We work with several other news sites online, and sharing articles regularly is common practice. That’s how news gets around. We will remain careful about what we post on Free Republic.
That said, we believe the ongoing desecration of the US Charters of Freedom and attempts to remove God from our country is news. Hence the post.
We also appreciate you recognizing that we went beyond the norm and ‘flushed out the video’ to further substantiate the event.

Not that we’re aware of. That’s why we posted the article. We found a video of him delivering the speed word-for-word and added it to our site.
I don’t like to unnecessarily attack bloggers — that’s why I reacted forcefully to the other freepers claim that I disparaged your information.
I just thought it was funny that we had come full circle.
