“Just my experience. I thought one “Betsy Ross” conveyed more than a thousand words, to those at the rally and anyone who saw her pic”

Very well stated! I think you’re right - these costumes illustrate concepts and ideas in a succint way. There was a Ben Franklin at our local tea party, and his image brought to mind the wisdom and the character of our founders. As you said, a picture really is worth a thousand words!

I can’t imagine people on the left trying to establish a dress code for their supporters or worrying about what people on the right might say. News flash - the MSM and the libs don’t like us. And they won’t like us more if we dress like they do or if we pattern our lives after them. If the MSM can’t find a picture of dorky right wingers they’ll find something else to write about - and it won’t be flattering.

This supposedly got started with Beck et al. saying the Tea Party had to start appearing less "extreme," i.e. kooky, crazy, etc., in order to attract . . . who?

As Rick Santelli says so well in this vid today (you have to listen to the end), what everyone is missing is that the Tea Party IS the new middle.

It doesn't have to change to attract the "middle," it IS the middle.

I saw some young boys in colonial garb and tricorner hats running through the crowd at a tea party rally and generally acting like young boys do. It really touched me thinking, not that long ago, young boys just like that took up arms with their fathers and fought the best Army in the world for their freedom. And they won.

God bless those Patriots and the America they fought and died for!
