What is one to make of all the hubbub this Republican primary season? Most of the talk has centered around the tea party, Sarah Palin, Republicans in name only (RINOs), and the reaction of the Republican establishment. Well, there is much to talk about.
The Republican establishment has clearly been shocked by the rapid ascension and influence of the tea-party and more general tea-party sentiment during the primary season. And rank and file conservatives new to the political process have been shocked at the unfriendly welcome they have received in Republican circles.
For a long time the mantra has been that for the Republican party to succeed, the party needs to engage and motivate the base. You need to get them involved. Or so they said.
As it turns out, the Republicans wanted the base to get involved--just not so much. What they really wanted is for real conservatives to turn out to vote but certainly not run. Newly involved fiscal conservatives are finding out that the Republican party wants their votes, just not them.
Welcome to the club.
This is the position that culture-of-life conservatives, like me, have found >>>

Duuuuuhhhh..............
The R leadership is NOT, repeat—N O T !!!!—conservative.
Let’s dump ‘em and deal with it.
Correction...there is not “the Tea Party”. There are lots of Tea Party groups and people, some large, some small. You could even say there is a Tea Party movement. Small point, but important.

Exactly. Thats the strength and genius of it. It’s a large group of individuals making an individual choice to react in a certain way.
It’s extremely uncomfortable for the Republidicans, they can’t control anything we do— because there’s no centralized authority to manipulate. And for my part, I’ll resist anybody who wants to paint me into a corner as some member of a collective. We are not controllable, and the elitist control freaks are going to find out how demoralizing it can be to fight a group like this.
I agree. The "Tea Party" is really just pissed-off private sector players (like me), having finally realized that they are the declared enemy of government.
Yes, you are right....we conservatives are sick and
tired of the “Heads I win, tails you lose.” choices
the Republican “leadership” has given us. Obama
or McCain....take your choice of the poison. Amnesty
is supported by both men. Amnesty means the end of the
conservative wing of the Republican party. Fight tea
partiers...we will win in November. It will be a start
in the right direction.
