Patton!
I’m thinking, the general who leads the re-taking of America from the socialist pukes.
Alexander the Great.
Alexander? Hannibal? Ghengis Khan?
I went with Alexander the Great. He won every where he went.
Patton.
He *understood* war.
Charles “The Hammer” Martel
As for Alexander, he had the advantage of playing a bunch of FCS schools. Lee’s leadership was questionable after Jackson’s fall.
Thoughts...
Grant kicked butt and won the war all while drunk out of his skull.
Patton, that is why he was had to be rubbed out. He knew the true enemy of the USA were International Marxist. He wanted to go into the nest and destroy the hive. He was destroyed instead, an accident don’t ya know. What a great student of war history and loved fighting for freedom.
William the Conquerer
Alexander. He ended the chariot as a tool of war by simply putting men in a U shape with spears. Horse avoided the spears, ran into the U and the men closed around the chariot. Just one innovation that allowed him to conquer more than any general in history.
George Washington???? Not even on the list?
Without a doubt John Singleton Mosby.
The Gray Ghost of the Civil War and George Patton III’s mentor in his later years.
Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower
He was an absolute genius when it came to logistics, using small terrain features to his advantage, and getting the enemy to respond to his rhythm (the Musashi advice).
An example of the latter...
Hannibal was being trailed by a Roman army that wanted to keep track of him, but not really give battle (every time the Romans gave battle, they were routed). Every evening as it became time to end the march, the Roman general would find Hannibal in a choice location on a hill. Finally he got sick of it and led an advanced party to scout out the hill towards evening.... exactly as Hannibal expected, and the Roman general led his men into an ambush!
Field Marshal Erwin Rommel - The Desert Fox.
Although on the wrong side of history - he was a brilliant leader of his men and won battles in spite of Hitler’s insanity.
I agree with those who say George Washington, for the reasons given and the fact that he also had to use his wits every day to stay alive. Also used his phenomenal acting ability and unparalleled courage to gather intelligence himself directly from his opponents.
Eisenhower in second place. We really don’t hear enough about the challenges he faced.
