An Obama supporter who has a temp gig at my office has asked me to put in a good word for them (gender-neutral reference) toward a more permanent position.

What to do, what to do?

No, you said ‘not completely the same’, so I changed my wording. Now you can say yes, it’s a different scenario.

Yes, and petty, like someone others mentioned.

If someone voted for Ozero then they shouldn’t expect a job in the private sector. The private sector shouldn’t be giving jobs to anyone who voted for Ozero.

I don’t know - if they’re a good worker, that’s a big plus and should be prominent in your decision. On the other hand, if they’re dumb enough to still be an Obama supporter at this point, they can’t be the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

Personally, I’d take a “hands-off” approach to this one.

I used to be a McGovern supporter as a teenager. I wouldn’t have been too keen on someone not recommending me for that dishwashing job simply because of that. Today’s liberal may well be tomorrow’s conservative. But let someone else be the one to mug them.

This person clearly has poor decision making skills. They are easily mislead by fancy bells and whistles. If the person still supports Obama, they fail to comprehend the concept of logical consequences. They are not curious enough to investigate other options, otherwise they would understand where Obama’s policies are leading us.

Those are not the qualities of a person I would recommend for a job.

Actually...you nor I knew the exact scenario. And you chose to call Martin shameful.

I called the Obama voter stupid.

Which one of us was more correct?

If someone who didn't vote for Obama were hired instead, then yes, it would.

Totally agree. Things may and probably will get very very bad in this country. See the civil wars in Lebanon and Yugoslavia. See what happened in Romania after the fall of the wall. Our near future may be like the USSR collapse except they don’t screw around with Islamists.

When Obama and his goons have destroyed your country, bankrupted you, you have no job, no social security, no food, etc.

If you think we are not going to get there then keep dreaming. It could be before the end of the year. Maybe the public will wake up and cancel sat and cable TV because they ONLY understand economic power or force. The TV networks ALL support him 100% and Islam 100%.

And MSNBC would gladly report on mass graves of evil racist conservatives shot to protect the “state” and Allah.

Don’t think we can get there and soon? Keep dreaming folks.

Americans lost their country because they gave all the power to TV and TV networks because they can control the masses. Drooling idiots watching meaningless ball games in between the “stupid white racist cracker guy” commercials.

“But hey but I love NCAA ball.” The same NCAA, NFL,NBA, MBL, ESPN that drool over Imam Obama. Praise imam and Allah!

Bingo! Putting your reputation on the line for....an idiot who support the destruction and Islamification of America.

You have to remember that if you vouch for a lib, idiot, pervert, drunk, theif, liar, etc etc - it may come back to you and not well.

Oh and probably a VERY high probablity that you will be unemployed very soon if you are not already unemployed based on the Imam Hussein’s sucessful efforts to destroy America.

Folks - if the GOP does not win by a blow out and remove the usurper through impeachment ASAP then it is over/

If the person is good at the job, beneficial to the company and the politics don’t affect performance, give the “good word”. If not, withhold it. But make darned sure they know that a hated conservative did the right thing.

Martin, that you feel the need to ‘privately’ discuss your bidness situation, with cyber FRiends, makes me wonder if YOU have deep seated reservations aboit this ‘temp’ becoming a ‘perm.’

Have NOT stayed in any Holiday Inns recently...but am relying upon my ‘mom’ skill set.

From: "Intentionally Ambiguous Recommendations"

There’s a new book on the market by Robert Thornton that’s quite popular with recruiters and human resources professionals titled, “Lexicon of Intentionally Ambiguous Recommendations (LIAR)”, which is doing equally well in the humour section. It gives a whole new meaning to the term “damned with faint praise.”

It deals with, and I think does a pretty good job of answering, the age-old question of how to give a truthful recommendation (or back-handed compliment) without legal complications. Well, almost. But the double-entendre stuff enables us to be vague enough to gain some much needed wiggle room sometimes.

Here are just a few examples:

* “Her ability is deceiving” (She lies, cheats and steals)
* “No salary would be too much for him.” (He is not worth anything)
* “It was a pleasure working with her the short time I did.” (Thankfully it was not longer)
* “I assure you that no person would be better for the job.” (you’d be better off with a vacant seat than this guy)
* “You’d be lucky to get this guy to work for you.” (Because all he wants to do is sit around and drink coffee)
* “He’s a man of many convictions.” (He’s got a record a mile long).

They compete with my old English favourite: “I love your dress! I have curtains made out of that fabric!” – but that’s a different category.
