This means nothing. I want a receipt issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts showing that he did indeed pay all back taxes that he should have paid had he registered his yacht in Massachusetts, aling with any other penalties associated with his tax dodging.

This is a joke. What is his legal tax obligation? There must be some actual legal status of this boat, and you can’t just change it if you feel like it.

Imaging if AFTER THE FACT he moored it the other way around - and then demanded a refund.

You don’t just ‘decide’ you will hand over tax money- you have to fill out a form and document your boat and etc etc etc...

So... Did he legally dodge the taxes (screwing his own state)

Or was he legally obligated to pay? (in which case he owes a penalty and fine and maybe should go to jail for tax evasion)

From all accounts, it looked as if Kerry attempted to bail on $437,500.00 in sales tax – as well as $70,000.00 a YEAR in excise tax.

OK, everybody, Kerry may be a repugnant POS, but what he did was not illegal. He registered the boat in a state with lower taxes. Ask yourselves, what if he was from a landlocked state? Should he register his boat in his home state, or where it's moored?

If people keep harping on crap like this, politicians will nail us for taxes in a state we left years ago, just because we may have been born there.

Politicians will find a way to use this against the rest of us. Heck, they already have. They nearly put the boatbuilding industry out of business in the '80's with their luxury tax nonsense.
