Sadly, your comment wasn’t sarcastic. :-(

Heh. Now THAT'S comedy! Along with a certain book that came out around that time, Citizen Clinton, by a great author!

You might be thinking of the 90’s Outer Limits ep- “Inconstant Moon” based on a short story of the same name by Larry Niven.

In this show, the professor (Michael Gross) deduces that the extremely bright moon means that the Sun has gone nova, and the daylight side of Earth has been wiped out. Believing the end is near, he marries his formerly-unapproachable love; then realizing the event may only have been intense solar flare, they prepare for survival as the sun begins to rise.

"the only survivors of a world-ending flare would be the Obamas and a crop of sycophantic White House journalists."

for a brief period until the GPS satellite system and AF One's electronics and control system were fried by the EMP and AF One went spiraling into a fiery crash. That would make a fitting end to the sycophantic White House "journalists".

Kinda like the ending of Jeff Wayne’s war of the worlds where you hear this person calling Houston and no response after you hear the Martian’s creepy sound.

Why does a *woman* feel the need to drop a potato down the front of her panties?

(Yeah, it's a softball question.)

Laz?

So, for us Liberal Arts Majors, why is the title so ominous when we're just talking about solar activity. Is it some unheard of solar activity?

Well, technically, since there’s a near-vacuum, we’ve never heard *any* solar activity. /rimshot

The title is ominous only because the Sun maintains the energy potential to flare up and wipe out the solar system at any moment, even though what appears to be “bright” at the moment may be nothing more than an ordinary sunspot.

The Sword of Damoclese hangs above us all, though it never seems to drop.

That’s why we have that spacecraft at the sun, silly.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about the Solar Rover we sent up there. Clinton administration, right?
