This confirms it! Our nation has slipped into a parallel universe!
Here's the exact statement by NASA administrator Charles Bolden in his interview with Al Jazeera in Cairo (and here's the entire youtube video--the "foremost" comment occurs at the 1 min 20 sec mark):
"One, he [Obama] wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and engineering -- science, math and engineering."By the way, before going forward it should be noted that Bolden was quick to point out that this is NOT a diplomatic outreach but instead an effort to attract more scientific contributors to our space "partnership." Bolden didn't explain why Obama wants NASA to invite the participation of those who at present feel rather poorly about their scientific and engineering achievements...but surely he (or the administration) will issue another statement of clarification shortly.
We at this blog are uncharacteristically speechless by this turn of events. Luckily, for us, there are those who can still find their voice.

Hey, maybe that’s why Obama hasn’t taken the Iranian effort to build a nuclear bomb all that seriously until now. He just wanted Iran to make the Muslim world feel good about their achievements in science! And it’s hard to do to that unless you talk a lot about outstretched open hands — and ignore a freedom movement that wants to depose the brutal tyrants who are trying to give the Muslim world a new “historic contribution.”Actually, Muslim nations should be insulted by the idea that the US pays NASA to provide them with paternalistic and patronizing validation and self-esteem boosts. And they probably will be.

If I didn't know that Obama had told this, I'd demand a firing of Charles Bolden the way I would Michael Steele...this is unbelievable!
Obama is admitting that they have done nothing in this area. If they had did anything they wouldn’t need help.

SMIRK! The Muslim world has done little of technological note for many hundreds of years. The last glimmer of greatness was probably during the Ottoman Empire under the reign of Suleyman The Magnificent. That was some 500 years ago.
Tasking NASA to improve the self-image of the Muslims is rather like supporting what Little League Baseball has become. Apparently, everyone gets a prize.
Of course, they’ve exterminated literally millions of the infidel. They were the primary stimulus for the creation of the Sikhs, the world’s newest religion. Did you ever wonder why the Sikhs carry daggers? The Muslims are the reason, and they definitely ain’t buddies.

Over the Holiday I tried to remember what I once read about the subject of "sanity."
The author of the article in question said, in effect, that there is no sanity because reality itself is a moving target. And it is different for each person pursuing it.
Therefore, the correct definition of sanity is that it is "the process by which a human being chases his/her ever-changing reality."
People who are insane refuse to take part in the chase. They develop their own fantasy world unrelated to the quarry/game that is reality.
Those of us who chase reality are defined by our pursuit of it. Those who turn away from the chase are defined by their fear of what they might find if they caught it.
In short, it is a game of courage! And the insane refuse to muster theirs!

Its my understanding that Bolden was once a Marine general. (If this is a misconception please correct me!)
This is how he wants to cap his honorable service to the country by willfully standing up in public and make stupid statements and defending intellectually indefensible policy?
Maybe Zero requires his minions to make these public statements as demonstrations of subservience & loyalty.
