The best weapons, and alarm mean nothing for home defense unless you have a plan to implement them. Here are some thoughts on the subject. Most of the experts agree, clearing a house is very difficult and should be left up to the professionals. I highly recommend having some type of "safe room" to sit tight and wait for the good guys to come. This place should be a room where you can cover all of the points of entry. Remember the fatal funnels. Doorways, hallways, and stairways are all choke points and can give you an advantage

But, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain(s).
Over the last 20+ years, we always have a pair of dobermans in the house. We’re on our 4th and 5th right now. All have been 100 pounds or better. Best danged alarms there are and we don’t get any unwanted visitors either. Anyone casing our farm would see the dogs out with us.
I see you have 3 dogs at a time. We’ve recently been considering adding a third, but wonder if that makes it a bit too much for a ranch sized house. We haven’t taken the leap to dog number 3, but we’re seriously considering it.
Since all my firearms fell out of my boat recently, all I have left is the doggies for protection.
: )
I have a similar setup, but it involves a piece of furniture.
That’s all I’m going to say ‘bout that.... /forrest_gump

OP-SEC. Live it.
thanks for the tip,
Our home defense plan involves a .357 and a couple of pairs of Mrs. Springman’s size 11 pumps.
Yes, it's real.
Wow, I didn’t know they made those.
Yikes! $150,000.00 each!
That’ll buy a lot of guns and a top-of-the-line alarm system.
1) Empty the magazine.
2) Reload.
3) Call for assitance when appropriate.
A lot of good points.
Want to add a few.
Situational awareness. When you are heading home, check that there is no one following you. If so, cruise around until they break off. We had a incedent where my wife was followed home by some stupid kid. He was incensed that my wife didn’t use her signal. Met the kid on the driveway with an axe handle and explained that he was playing a very dangerous game following someone’s wife home. Didn’t hurt him, but let him know that there a lots of guys who wouldn’t be near as leniant as I was.
Dogs, can’t beat that, especially since they are very territorial. Your house is their house and they don’t wait to check who it is. Also a “beware of dog” sign is a good sign even if you don’t have a dog. Makes them think twice.
just my 2 cents.
I like the idea of rooms with funnels to a hidden wood chipper.
The home invaders are usually gang members within the same community as the immigrants and they know the score.
If we want to eliminate a huge percentage of home invasions then we need to better police what valuables immigrants bring into the country.
This would also increase tax revenues and decrease the welfare rolls, as lots of people who now claim to be in poverty would be found to be richer than their wage slaving neighbors.
Use the budget for the Taser toward the purchase of a shotgun.
We’ve got a doggie door installed so our dogs can go in and out at will. That way, during the summer when it gets hot out, the dogs have a place to get out of the heat.
LOL, awesome!!
