I am a Broken Man

Posted on 06/14/2010 1:48:57 PM PDT by savedbygrace

A few days ago, my wife suddenly, without forewarning that I ever detected, told me she is leaving me. The details are not important, only that I recognize it was mostly my fault.

Our grown daughter is leaving home about the same time. Within three weeks, I will be alone, with only my Golden Retriever as a companion. I'm calling on God, and he is answering, but in this physical world, it's only my Golden.

Heartbroken, deeply wounded, ashamed. That's me.

I'm hoping to receive words of advice and counsel. I'm a born again, spirit filled Christian, so I'll respond more readily to Christian-based advice and counsel, but I'm ready to accept whatever you have for me. I'm needy.

They love me. (They have to, they can't open the canned cat food by themselves.)

LOL! Mine loves me too I think..........or at least she does at 4:45 a.m..

Animals will never steal from you, lie to you, or try to harm you.

I live alone as I am assuming you do and I also have a cat.

If we were to die and not be discovered for a month, can we trust our cats not to eat us?

This will sound like very strange advice but I’ll let-er-rip anyway!

Take a pictures of your current surroundings(home, pets, children, cars, friends, favorite foods, all the things that you think make you happy).

Now, this will be the hard part, look at those pictures and imagine to yourself how much more fun if she weren’t around around. Forget your emotions for just a few moments as you do this.

Now picture yourself making yourself happy in the future in those pictures and decide for yourself which ones that cannot still be accomplished were she not involved

Form a plan to make that happen and follow through with it!

Good Luck and make sure you put yourself first because you need YOU to survive first and foremost.

If we're dead it does not matter. It's not the animal's fault if they are left suddenly without food.

I worry about being injured with the cats home without enough water. They are well-fed to get by for a few days without food, but water is another issue.

God is the whole universe... you want to tell me how one book written by MAN can encompass the universe?

IOW's you can't back up what you said. The Bible does not say "God will not allow more to be piled on you that you can handle"... Everyday we see examples of where more is put on a person than they can handle. Now that is not saying that "God can't handle it" because we know he can.

I don't understand the strange tangent you went off defending your statement. Of course you can't put the whole universe in a book anymore than you can get a human to comprehend the whole universe... We are not God.

If you saying the Bible is not inspired by God, then that is another thread topic.

Back off bub.

1) I can have what ever beliefs I want to. I don’t give a hoot what “proof” is to you or not. You know nothing of my conversations with God.
2) Shut your pie hole. I was comforting the poster of this thread. So MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. Don’t agree with me that’s fine. Do it in private and stop mucking up the thread of someone who is genuinely in pain.
3) Take your holier than thou attitude and go pray. Learn what compassion is all about you closed minded little child.
4) PROVE to me that God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. Hint: You cant.
5) The Bible is NOT a complete work. Several books were removed by the Holy Roman Church hundreds of years ago, and other books were edited. Go and do some research before you pop off with what you THINK is an educated opinion. You show yourself ignorant otherwise.
6) Where in the Bible does it say that God WILL give us more than we can handle? Another hint: No where. Its cop-out baloney to say we can’t handle life, if we choose to, we can handle a whole lot more than you seem to think we can. Well that’s between you and God, and I am uninterested in knowing anything about that conversation.
7) Christ would never have attacked me and my beliefs as you did. I suggest you take that to heart.

Shut your pie hole.

I am tempted to respond to your whole post, but will not.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (New International Version)

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Good day sir.

I’m trying to reply to all the FReepers who’ve posted in my thread, but it’s going slow because I’m in slow motion these days.

Thank you for your reply. I take that as good advice.

The most wonderful thing about this is that my daughter and I are getting so much closer, it brings tears to my eyes and heart.

Please continue to pray for me. I am standing for the restoration of our marriage. Somedy, when God’s timing is perfect.
