A mid-sized earthquake shook the Gulf of Mexico today. This is where it is geologically pretty stable. It is also right next to the huge salt domes where much of the oil and gas is being extracted. A retired geologist, Mr. Jack M. Reed, theorized there has to be a hidden tectonic plate segment in this spot and it is not only geologically active but is responsible for triggering the New Madrid Quakes.....

The center of the Gulf of Mexico isn’t where the Deepwater Horizon failed............

There were a couple smaller ones in that area back then though. It was one excuse used by Allstate not to pay for hurricane damage for Rita.

All I'm saying is that the Deepwater Horizon was located about 40 miles off the La coast which isn't the center of the Gulf. Not saying the the Gulf doesn't have earth quakes. However if a quake had occurred when this event happened it would be logged on the some numerous seismic equipment. I don't see a connection, jmo.

your story;

This oil reservoir is so large and under so much pressure (20,000-70,000psi) that it influences it’s deep earth neighbors when it farts.

I had wondered if there was any seismic activity before the oil platform disaster, even weeks before that might have weakened or damaged the well components or altered the geology on which this well was designed

It must be under very high pressure since it keeps flowing out even at the very high pressure a mile under the sea.

That’s an older well...has nothing to do with the BP well...this well was being shut down and has probably been killed by now.
