Democrat Congressman Assaults Student- Caught on Video!
www.LibertyJuice.com ^ | June 14, 2010 | Brittany Pounders

How do these people make it to Washington? Or perhaps they are beginning to feel the consequential heat of their decisions? Democrat Congressman from North Carolina, Bob Etheridge, is walking past a student asking him a legitimate question, “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?” The Congressman, very aggressively grabs the young man and demands, “Who are you? Who are you?” The student repeatedly asks to be released and the Congressman continues to tussle with him, refusing to let go. And it’s done in such a way that one must wonder if he’s at full mental capacity.

It is doubtful that while this kind of behavior is definitely newsworthy, especially to the residents of North Carolina, this probably won’t get run on the mainstream media. It’s my opinion that this Congressman should have his next interview from a DC jail cell and the young man who was assaulted should be praised for showing such restraint.

Why couldn’t the student have given his name?

Was he required to? What does who he is have to do with the question?

Not if a camera is running and your reply is going to be recorded.

Suppose a total stranger stops you on the street, with a camera running and asks you to answer a question. Would you not ask the name of the person before you let your answer be recorded?

I’m talking simple common sense.

“The congressman shouldn’t have touched him, but I do not understand why the stupid student could not have given his name.”

When you have that kind of political power, and ask for the name of someone you are obviously threatening physically, it is in and of itself a threat. He was asking for his name in a way that to me seemed to threaten ‘I will make you wish you hadn't messed with me’. When elected officials have the power and connections to have you audited, or keep you from getting specific jobs, grants, scholarships, etc., etc. you are smart to worry about giving them your name.

The Congressman could have said, ‘no comment’ and left it at that.

The congress-thing could have just kept on walking. Kid did nothing wrong. Nothing.
And the congress-animal is darned lucky the kid didn't strike back—HARD—after being assaulted.

Yes, I’d ask, but if there was no answer given, walk away.

That kid need to learn how to break a wrist-hold. It's the easiest thing in the world.

You jerk your arm away hard, while simultaneously twisting your wrist toward the thumb of the holder. Not even a gorilla can hang on.

He’s requesting an interview, a filmed recording of the congressman’s response.

The congressman should not have touched him. The kid could have given his name. He should not have expected a reply unless he was willing to give his name. He’s the one who approached the congressman, not the other way around. All this business about “rights” is stupid. The kid wants an interview. He wants to play “journalist.” Well, let him be a decent, normal person about it.

Suppose a total stranger stops you on the street, with a camera running and asks you to answer a question.

I'll either answer the question, ask who he is, or ignore him and walk away.

If I grab him, detain him and yank him around, I'll likely be arrested. As this congressman should be arrested.

If the kid doesn’t want his name known to the congressman, then he has no business stopping him on the street with a gotcha camera running. Sorry, but stopping someone with a camera running is not the same as asking someone for directions to the nearest McDonalds.

The camera running is not neutral.

That reminds me of the old saying that people are promoted to their level of incompetence. They are promoted to the level that they can least damage an organization.

Makes me wonder about Obama, frankly, cause he’s doing a great job of damage the organization he’s ‘running’.

“The kid was either incompetent and flustered or an arrogant fool”

You are partly right. He’s a kid and he was flustered. As he was a kid and not a professional, competence or incompetence does not apply. flustered kid, frightened kid, threatened kid. Assault and battered kid.

The student should file charges. Of course, I’m not sure a congressman can be arrested while congress is in session.

And why should a “constitutient” have to give his name. I’d not want a government employee to no my name, either. Not during these “big brother” times.

Suppose a total stranger stops you on the street, with a camera running and asks you to answer a question. Would you not ask the name of the person before you let your answer be recorded?

And suppose you are the interviewee, and I say I'm Joe Fishburger. What does that information do for you? Are you suddenly enlightened? The only thing that having the guy's name would do for the congressman, would be to provide a target for retaliation later.

“Accosted”. Pshaw. He’s an elected public official, on a public street with no, zero expectation of privacy.

Wait a minute. The kid accosted the congressman on the street with a camera running. If he wants cooperation from his interviewee, he can give his name.

Do you suppose the kid would have been happy to identify himself if not for the menacing tone and gesturing of the congressman? The kid asked his question in a very respectful manner and only became evasive after the congressman started his little Steven Segal routine. You can't see that?

‘How do these people make it to Washington?’

Its the electorate who is asleep and ignorant. We’re the problem!!! Yes, the pols are running wild but it appears most voters don’t understand it’s their responsibility and duty to rein them in. We own the store thats being damaged by both parties.

The kid was also a chump.

Right there with the Congress Critter aren't you? The kid was scared if you didn't notice. Or do you just believe when asked by someone in authority that you just give up the information. You are a chump for thinking the kid is a chump.
