I was just told by a member of his staff that he has not yet turned himself in to face charges
That does seem to imply that there are charges to be turned in on. OK now this is getting good. I figured the kids would hold off on charges to make him squirm. But if the charges are in it changes the dynamic. He can hide behind innocent until proven guilty. But it also means that this isn't going to go away.

The story is not complete yet. We have to see Eths response, nor the reporters for that matter. Eth is too smart to do anything public that doesnt serve him in some way. What's not to see. Ethridge walks up the sidewalk. The young reporter asks a simple question. Ethridge assaults the young reporter, demands his name, and steals his phone. Then, he walks away. There is nothing else that can be said that will undo the facts as recorded here.
Ethridge can't be a democrat and be smart at the same time - the two are mutually exclusive.

I understand the real reason for the assault is that he felt threatened when the n-word was shouted at him. (Hey, it worked for Congressman Cleaver.)

Belligerent drunk if I ever saw one.
To: frposty
Eth is too smart to do anything public that doesnt serve him in some way. "Eth" is backing down from his idiocy faster than you're backing down from yours.
That should tell you something.
To: frposty
Eth is too smart to do anything public that doesnt serve him in some way. Wrong. He's toast - he's already apologized but there's no excuse for it.
Even with ABC spinning him grabbing the kid by the neck "in an obvious effort to show his face on camera" - you don't grab people by the neck and manhandle them.
To: Gondring
He's posted a statement on his website...Had he known there was a second camera on him, he would not have reacted "poorly". He just didn't think he was going to get caught. Typical democrat.

Excellent. I just faxed the question to my so-called blue dog Rep. in Tennessee. Let them all feel the heat and take a stand on the assault.
Dear Blue Dog,
Hypothetically, if I were to grab a Congressman, put him in a headlock and take his cell phone, could I walk around a free woman if I just give an apology statement?
Just wondering.

The question was viewpoint neutral, wasn't it? What, Rep. "TKO" Etheridge, is so heinous about the Obama Agenda that caused you to overreact and become violent? You voted for Obama's agenda. Defend it, dammit.
Either he was boozed up and is a Nasty Type drinker ( but if so I would have thought something in his career would have surfaced much sooner )or SOMETHING at the meeting he just attended put him in a bad mood

There are other possibilities...they might have been asking him over and over before this. Who knows what the whole story was? Bottom line—he responded in a criminal manner, it seems.

The disturbing part is that an American politician is arrogant enough to think he can just get away with what he did.
If that ever happens to anybody...you give them warning to unhand you or you will defend youself. Then you state, “last warning, let me go”....you count to 5 and left hook his azz right in the kisser.

They’re not even defending him at DU. Only 5 posts on the thread. 4 said he was wrong - one said it was FReepers attacking him and the Congressman should sue the kids.
hahahahahaha

Wow indeed. This nut belongs in jail, not the House of Representatives.

I fully expect him to resign over this. Americans on both sides of the aisle are sick of elitist politicians.
