In a 1997 Middle East Quarterly article titled "Prince Charles of Arabia," Ronni L. Gordon and David M. Stillman looked at evidence that Britain's Prince Charles might be a secret convert to Islam.
They shifted through his public statements (defending Islamic law, praising the status of Muslim women, seeing in Islam a solution for Britain's ailments) and actions (setting up a panel of twelve "wise men" to advise him on Islamic religion and culture), then concluded that, "should Charles persist in his admiration of Islam and defamation of his own culture," his accession to the throne will indeed usher in a "different kind of monarchy."
June 10, 2010 update: Charles says ...

Wikipeida (yes, yes, I know the warnings) says that according to the Bill of Rights and Act of Settlement the person inheriting the crown must be a Protestant. So, if he has become a Muslim I guess the crown would the go to Prince William.
Why shouldn’t he be muslim? Muslims still believe in extremely antiquated concepts of kings.

Speaking as his friend, no, he is not, and frankly I am getting sick of media misrepresentations and all out lies trying to give the impression that he is.
Seriously - it astonishes me on this site, where I thought most people had a basic understanding that the mass media isn’t always honest and tries to spin things, how ready people are to believe any garbage the press tries to present about the Prince of Wales.
I think he’s wrong on climate change, and I’ve told him so, numerous times. So I think he makes himself look foolish whenever he discusses it, but the simple fact is the man is a broadly conservative Christian who is utterly dedicated to the service of his nation. And because of that large sections of the media hate him and seek every opportunity to discredit him.

But I walked out of a concert of his once ...about 30 years ago in Royce Hall at UCLA. (The only time I’ve ever seen him). His “band” took about an hour to tune their instruments, and I lost patience and got the heck outta there.
That wasn’t tuning - that was the music!
Nah, the tabla player was just sitting there shaking his head throughout it all — he wasn’t happy with the delay. The whole ordeal gave a lot of the concertgoers bad trips.
