Just a correction. The birth announcements did not come from the HDOH in 1961. That procedure didn’t begin until 1976.

According to the Hawaiian dept of health, they did place the birth announcement in the newspapers in 1961. This was stated by HDOH spokesperson Okubo on July 28,2009
