The problem is no bill should be longer than 10 pages.

Otherwise, so much crap is stuffed into it, that no one reads it.........they vote for concepts now, that is the problem.

The magnet for illegal immigration is jobs, and the only effective way to keep illegals from getting jobs is to require an secure and reliable method of determining who is eligible to work - or, if you are concerned about employment in the underground economy, a similar ID which demonstrates that you are in the county legally, witch must be produced on demand,

If you don’t like either of those ideas, be prepared to live with large numbers of illegals, because absent such IDs attempts at immigration control are bound to fail.

The problem is that no bill is a law unto itself, because we’ve had 200+ years of passing laws, many of which changed in part other laws. So most laws these days are written to change sections of other laws, rather than be standalone.

It takes lots of pages to describe how you are changing other laws in little bits and pieces, and makes it impossible to really understand what is being done.

So you get lines that says “on page X of law Y (ammended by resolution Z), strike the term ‘as necessary’ in paragraph 1 item ‘a’ and replace with ‘as determined by’”

I’ve tried to amend resolutions in my local HOA, and decided it was just easier to re-write them every time. But apparently for real legaleze it’s better not to re-write because it means everybody has to re-learn everything, especially if you mess up the copying.

I know..

I really think we should rotate our legislative sessions.

One session for new statutes and budgeting, the next to repeal and remove out of date laws and statutes.

“We want it to be reliable, and I think that’s going to help us in this debate on immigration.”

Seal the borders. There is no debate. Americans want to be a free people - not a computer chip.

Ping to this link.

While I understand your statement read this link from a source that is actually going to implement it.

I don’t know about you, but some things really bother me. First and foremost everyone will be fingerprinted like a common criminal. I’ve had to have that done for several jobs and even have had the eye scan done for ‘security’ reasons.

Now we’re going to ask every day common folks to do this? Will we be anymore secure because they set up this database? Reality, no from my perspective. How are they going to be sure the initial ID’s are legit? They can’t right now, that is why in the immigration/amnesty bill everyone will be required to get the ID. We’ll most likely have a year to get everyone the ID’ed.

The UID will be marketed to us as the stop-gap measure and last call for amnesty. It won’t be. India is marketing it to control their welfare system. Really read that article I posted.

The UID and the upcoming databases being implemented in other bills from healthcare, to finance, to energy all will track you down to the last penny. All of it will be linked together. Why is this important to them?

“”Acknowledging the existence of every single citizen automatically compels the state to improve the quality of services, and immediately gives the citizen a fairer, more equitable access to services,” said Nilekani.

“This recognition creates a deep awareness of rights, entitlements and duties,” he said. “

It has nothing to do with immigration! I’ll repeat that, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IMMIGRATION. It is about ‘spreading the wealth around.’

Republicans wanted this a few short years ago and now the democrats...don’t trust either one.

“Papers please” has the libs equating Arizona to Nazi Germany. But it’s OK for the Federal government to do so, according to the Dems Immigration Bill.

What hypocrites these people are---ID's have always been anathema to libs.

Notice the Dims don't want illegals to have to show an ID to vote.

Yeah, desperate Dims need those illegals voting for them over and over again. Except that illegals have several ID's----the better to vote with multiple times.

EXPOSE----HERE'S HOW ILLEGALS GET ALL THOSE FAKE IDENTITIES TO VOTE AND VOTE AND VOTE.

2 Texans accused of planning to sell counterfeit IDs

NORTH BERGEN -- (AP) 07/21/06---The Pelcastre brothers were a walking threat to national security -- expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, authorities said Thursday. When police stumbled across the pair, the men had turned a Tonnelle Avenue hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local identity broker, authorities said.

The brothers, Angel, 31, and Jorge, 34, both of Dallas, were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of government documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses for any state in the country , including passports and resident alien cards, said state police Capt. Al Della Fave. "Can you imagine if a terrorist were able to get their hands on this stuff?" Della Fave said. "They'd have free passage throughout the country."

A task force including state troopers and officers from both the Bergen and Hudson county prosecutors' offices happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in the parking lot of the hotel Wednesday morning. Authorities wouldn't identify the hotel by name for fear it could hinder cooperation from other hotels in future investigations or spark retribution.

The Corporate Outreach Task Force, formerly the Hotel Motel Drug Interdiction Task Force, regularly runs checks on motor vehicles in area motels. Members of the task force began watching the cars, a Chevrolet Impala and a Pontiac Firebird, and followed the brothers to an office supply store in a nearby shopping center, where the men purchased computer supplies, said state police Sgt. Stephen Jones.

Officers then followed the brothers to a self-storage facility in Secaucus, where they loaded several boxes from a storage unit into one of the cars, Jones said. One of the men stood lookout, which heightened police suspicion, he said. Authorities approached the men when they returned to the hotel and questioned them separately, Jones said. The brothers consented to a search of their cars, hotel room and the storage facility, he said.

Police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs, Jones said.

All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street, Della Fave said. Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a fake document broker for a shipment of 500 Social Security cards, Della Fave said.

"They were aggressively selling to brokers," he said. "This isn't like selling driver's licenses to individuals. These were multiple layers of high-level documents."

The brothers were being held without bail Thursday at the Hudson County Jail on charges of possessing fraudulent documents and conspiracy to sell fraudulent documents. Federal charges are also pending against them, said state police Detective Sgt. Cesar Huaman, a member of the task force.

NOTE: Just wondering (/snix): where do these "poverty-stricken" migrants doing cheap stoop labor get the thousands of dollars to buy new identities? Does the Mexican govt have a hidden agenda? Is the Mexican govt "helping" illegals get false ID's?

That's because we're not really a sovereign nation anymore. We're a member of the world government. Now comes the chip.
They just let us THINK we have a say. Have you noticed lately the American people are being ignored all together? When was the last time our government did something for it's slaves - those who are responsible for supporting the entire world? All they do is confiscate our wages - period.
