If you thought you'd previously seen it all, well, you're wrong. Case in point: David Morales Colón, a 22-year-old Puerto Rican man who was shot to death last Thursday, and whose wake is now making headlines here in the United States mainland. How come? Well, suffice it to say that the funeral directors at Marin Funeral Home in San Juan's Hato Rey neighborhood have a flair for the unorthodox. For example, in 2008, they embalmed another young shooting victim and displayed his body standing up for the duration of a multi-day wake.

So a kindly old lady takes her two recently-deceased pet monkeys to a taxidermist.

She explains that she was going to have them buried in a pet cemetery, with a really nice funeral, but that she had reconsidered, since she just couldn't bear to parted from her beloved pet monkeys, to whom she was very attached, etc., etc.

After about half an hour, the little old lady finally gets to the end of her story, and then just stands there, smiling abashedly at the taxidermist.

The taxidermist still isn't sure that the little old lady understands that he is a taxidermist, not a pet funeral home director, and that most of his customers are hunters for whom he stuffs game that they have bagged, etc., and he says, "So, do you want them mounted?"

"No, no," says the little old lady. "Just holding hands - they were only good friends."

Regards,
