“I haven’t read the whole law, but does it say anything about profiling”?

...it actually is specific against profiling. This guy must have a huge population of people harboring illegals where he presides or something.

His job is to enforce the law that’s on the books, not pick and choose which ones his likes....

I'm not defending this clown, but... pro-amnesty supporters such as W, McCain, Graham and all the democrats have a selective law enforcement mentality.

It seems to be fashionable by politicians to piss on our Constitution that they swore an oath to protect. The Rule of Law is hit or miss these days.

More evidence that the US is no longer a nation of laws. We have laws on the books, but society’s elites pick and choose what they enforce.

Bingo!

Read my previous post.

If he’s unwilling to follow this law, what others would he ignore?

The same could be said of all of those who endorse amnesty instead of deporting ILLEGAL aliens.

Politiciaians conveniently don't understand the word "illegal."

Then he must be removed from office.

So should McCain and Graham, and anyone else excusing illegals here, and suggesting amnesty.

Sheriff Joe is playing politics now. He wants to remain sheriff so he can continue to deport the criminally convicted illegals and protect his constituents....that is a good priority at this time IMHO.

It is entertaining how many NWO politicians and other entities are all over the new AZ law which practically mirrors federal law. Hmmmm...what's 'their' agenda???

Amnestys has never worked, never will. It just add more leeches on the dole to suck away more taxpayers hard earned money.

Pima county is Tucson area. I lived there for four years. There is a extremely strong (legal) Latino influence on the city council and the county election process. The state itself may lean to the right and vote Republican but Tucson is mostly Democrat.

The key thing here is that federal law required some activity and some enforcement...state law is now more direct and absolutely requires activity and enforcement from the cops. As you can see in both cases....it’s a pick and choose mentality by the cops (local, state, and federal) over what they enforce. The minute you use the “menu-option” on law...you aren’t cops or law enforcement anymore. I think we’ve been this way for several decades now....but now have so many problems that cops won’t even see the issues and react.

He should immediately lose his job...

He’s not doing anything different from what the Feds already do...

Sheriffs are elected, right?

I think I know a guy who's gonna have some serious challenges next election.

Either that or he lives in a “majority illegal” county.

How in the world does a numb nuts like this become a sheriff? Worried about profiling? Maybe he should stop patroling all together. Because he would have to use his brain, when he sees suspicious people in suspicious activity.

I agree with your previous post with a qualification.

Saying that our law enforcement is "hit and miss" seems to imply that our law enforcement is random. If that's what you mean, I disagree -- I believe there is a definite slant to what we see in the enforcement and interpretation of our laws, and that slant is not to the liking of one who respects our Constitution. There are undoubtedly pockets within the nation where one can often find equal justice, but those pockets are at least dwindling, if not being rapidly erased.

Any reasonable person knows what our Founders meant by natural-born citizen; the Indiana decision mentioned earlier in this thread renders the grandfather clause of the natural born citizenship requirement in the Constitution meaningless. If one accepts that Obama was born in Hawaii, and if one ignores the fact that his citizenship was surrendered when he became an Indonesian citizen, there is no difference between Obama's and Washington's citizenship status. Our Founders knew that Washington wasn't a natural-born citizen: he was born in Virginia, but he was born with British citizenship. If Obama was born in Hawaii, he was born with British citizenship (which, after Kenya independence, reverted to Kenyan citizenship).

Our Founders were wise enough to preclude anyone with in-born loyalty to a foreign power from attaining the presidency. From what we have witnessed in the past 1.25 years, Obama's primary loyalty does not lie with the US. Elections in November 2010 and November 2012 will be important: we will see where most American's loyalties lie. The media and Obama are doing its best to keep the electorate ignorant.

Whenever I get a call from the Republican Party or an affiliate looking for money, I tell them point blank that I will not fund any organization that doesn't have a single member with the fortitude to ask a simple question: Will you, Mr. Obama, please prove to the people that you are eligible to hold the presidency?

He is a democrat who has been the PC Sheriff since 1980. He just filmed an ad for Rep Gabby Giffords (D).

That is all one needs to know about this buttwipe.

Anyone want to bet he has stayed clean from drug money for his 30 years as PC Sheriff? At 74, can’t we retire this guy in 2012?

He was appointed over 30 years ago. He has stayed in office thru the votes of democrats. West Tucson is to the political left of San Francisco...

Arpaio should buy a bus and shuttle his people to the Pima County Seat and let them off there.

Cheaper than jailing them.
