They wouldn't.
I just watched about an hour of clips from NASA missions where they filmed objects in space which clearly changed trajectory in mid-flight, cast shadows on the moon, were detected by ground-based telemetry, and exhibited other strange behavior, such as matching the exact speed and direction of our spacecraft before moving off.
In some of these clips, the astronauts can be heard having conversations with the ground controllers about these objects. Many times, the word "visitors" was used to describe them by both crew and controllers.
There's a video of Edgar Mitchell, famous astronaut, talking about the fact that he and every other astronaut of the Apollo and Gemini missions observed strange, unknown craft operating in their mission vicinities.
He goes on to say that there's no question that earth is under constant surveillance by extraterrestrials, and that governments all over the world are hiding this fact.

Here’s a few reasons, prefaced by this thought - we know what’s coming:

1. The “New Age” is very open to the idea of “ascended spiritual masters” and are very open about their belief in alien life forms, frequently claiming contact with them, as well as claiming that these aliens are pointing us towards global unity, global government, environmentalism and earth worship, while also saying that the aliens haven’t contacted us openly yet because we’re “not ready” yet. Frequently they cite Christianity and nationalism as the limiting factors in raising the “vibration” of life here in Earth.
2. In order for the globalists and new agers to fully take charge of Earth, as we know they are destined to do for a time (if you read your Bible), they have to get some serious credibility from somewhere.
3. The emergence of “alien” life forms would be a great vehicle to do that, as they would be viewed as immediate authorities, and many people have been conditioned (like some of the posters right here on this thread” to see “aliens” as superior to us in technological, intellectual, and even spiritual matters. If these “aliens” pointed us all towards the global government and a “new age” many would follow.
4. A demonic ability to transcend space and time in the spiritual realm could be easily explained as “advanced technology” as could all their supernatural abilities.
5. Since they come from another world - one without Jesus - we could assume that the emergence of “aliens” would be seen as supreme evidence disproving biblical Christianity and creation. They may even claim to BE gods - the ones who created us. Or they may claim to be further “evolved” than we are - thereby disproving the existence of God for many.
Those are just a few thoughts. There is more than just a little speculation involved, but it seems like the pieces would fit. It seems to me that the last thing a demon would appear as would be a demon. What could be better than a super-evolved, altruistic, mystic alien race to guide us away from God’s word?... I’m just sayin’

Well..., you might understand the effort that goes into something like that and whether it's a waste of time -- if you consider what nations do in war-time...
They are very active on the "deception" in war-time, in order to deceive, disguise and fool others, so that they can gain an advantage in the "war"... you see.
Consider that before D-Day, we engaged in a massive deception on Hitler and his generals by pretending that we were going to attack elsewhere. We put a lot of effort into it and sacrificed a lot of people in perpetrating it.
What is going on here is a "war" -- and it's a war against the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, against the angels who have stayed on on God's side, with mankind as the pawns and as the "booty and spoils of war".
When you think about it in terms of "war" ... then you realize why they put so much time and effort into it.
