The Situation In Iceland is rather scary as a volcano under a glacier erupted for the second time in less than a month melting ice and sending rushing flood waters from around the Eyjafjallajokull glacier and down the mountainside.
Scientists said the eruption under the ice cap was 10 to 20 times more powerful than one last month, and carried a much greater risk of widespread flooding. This eruption sent ash miles into the atmosphere shutting down air traffic all across Europe.
With all of the worry and danger there is some comic relief. I am talking, of course, about the Clown Prince of CNN, Rick Sanchez the man who called the concept of state's rights a racist term. Poor Rick couldn't understand how you could have volcanoes in Iceland when it is so cold there. Yes Rick you can have volcanoes in a cold climate, and before you ask, the sun is still in the sky when it is cloudy outside.

Another poster child for corrupted, incompetent public ‘skrools’ as Rush would say! LOL.
Iceland is the leader in Geothermal technology.
I agree—it’s a vicious cycle!! Somebody save the children!!!
Yes, brain damage must be a prerequisite for being hired at MSNBC. Just look at Chrissy Matthews, Lawrence Loco O’Donnell and Keither OverbitePerpetualFurher.
How can this be? Sanchez says it is too cold and there is too much ice. It must be global warming.
“you think it’s too cold to have a volcano there” .......DUH, hey Rick, we’re sending you back to Kindergarten so you can start all over again.”
This reminds me of a ritual that goes on in my house in the spring, winter, and fall. I’m sitting and watching TV, then put down my beer and grab my coat. Immediately my dogs jump up and run to the door. Dogs are the most observant creatures alive. But their actions aren’t driven by reasoning, as much as we’d like to think they do. The dogs have simply learned to associate “coat” with “go for a walk”.
Now try and imagine what goes on in the “mind” of a CNN “journalist”. He hears the word volcano, and an image of smoke pops into his head. Then, right after the word “in” (one of them short words) comes “ice ....(something)”. You see, to Rick, as an “investigative reporter”, something is fishy. You know, “hot and cold” in such close association just doesn’t add up.
While those of us who see such perceptions as “States Rights equals Racism”, or “Al Gore plus slide projector equals expert” as a level of cognition worthy of an animal, “journalists” who toil with world events at CNN and MSNBC, etc. recognize them as “critical thinking”.
Personally, I'm worried that all that lava is going to tip over and capsize the island...
That being said, Iceland is yet another inevitable disaster waiting to happen AGAIN! Iceland is the only surface feature in the Atlantic that is visibly being split by the Atlantic Mid-ocean Rift. Technically, in geologic terms, part of Iceland is North America and part is Europe and these two parts are being pulled apart.
In 1783 a volcanic rift / fissure named Laki erupted in the south east of Iceland and through gasses, ash and subsequent famine killed better than 20% of the Icelandic population and 50% plus of the agricultural animals. The gas plumes from this eruption went around the world and may have been responsible for famines that led to the French Revolution.
In the US that winter of 1783/4 there was ice skating in the harbor of Charleston, SC and Benjamin Franklin later lectured on a cooling dry 'fog' that would not burn off and would not allow for normal solar warming!
If this were to happen today, how much better could we handle such a disaster? My bet is not very well.
Well, you know, Sanchez comes from the smart people’s school of liberalism that worries about Iceland getting too many people and tipping right over! I can understand how he would be leery of the reports of hot stuff in ICE land.

I thought you had to be a senator to be allowed to get away with that.
