Grayson got elected in 2008 in a Republican leaning district. His GOP opponent Ric Keller had angered conservatives by advocating withdrawal from Iraq in 2007 during the height of violence. Details of Keller's nasty divorce came out during the campaign. Grayson won in the most densely populated portion of the 8th District—part of Orlando—with help from ACORN, unions, Obama’s coattails and Republican apathy.
Grayson knew last year that he would be a one-termer. His goal seems to be to attract maximum publicity to himself before he is defeated in November. It's all shtick. He may have an MSNBC slot lined up or some job with the DNC. He is a personal injury lawyer. He's not crazy or dumb--he's calculating and devious. He may be using the exposure to boost his post-election law practice.
