I like the one about the granddaughter no longer receiving money from the grandparents because she voted for Obama and they lost their retirement etc.
the obama bumper sticker was probably a give away.
the bragging probably didn’t hurt either.
Lets say you have two employees. You have to lay off one of them, mostly due to Obama policies continuing to harm the economy.
Both do their jobs. Both arrive on time, leave on time, occasionally stay later to finish up. Both get paid the same amount of money. Nothing really separates the two as far as employees go.
One voted for Obama, the other didn't.
Who do you lay off?
I know who I'm laying off, without question.
As long as a man owns his company it is his right to hire and fire whomsoever he please for whatsoever reason pleases him but the government will smother that right where it can.
I hope so, but I really doubt dermdoc really did this. He may have laid a guy off, and he may have done it after listening to him spout off at the water cooler once too often about his messiah. I doubt he told him, or anybody else in the office, why he laid him off. Somebody will sue.
As an aside, it’s a good lesson about politics and work. I refuse to discuss it.
“How did the boss even know that this employee voted for Obama unless the employee told him so?”
As has been said many times here on FR, if you have to fire someone, all things being equal, go out to the parking lot and find an employee’s car with the Obama bumper sticker! That should work!
Slacker votes for Obama and his free stuff, slacker gets laid off first. Sounds about right to me.
In the ‘final analysis’ - how does anyone know who you voted for? This is stupid. As stupid as voting for Obama. . .
Has anyone verified that this was a bona fide posting? For all we know, ‘dermadoc’ could just as well be Howard Dean
Ha.
A court ruled after the 2004 election that the owners of an ice cream shop in one of the northeastern states could fire their employee for voting for Pres. Bush. There is no law against discriminating against someone for their political beliefs. However, I’m sure BO will change that very soon.
"Fellow Business Executives:
As the CEO of a business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been troubling to me, as we believe we are family here and I didnt know how to choose who will have to go first.
So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I cant think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them."
....and being a left winger, I doubt the guy was ever considered for the employee of the month award.
It would be an excellent reason!!!
YES!
Now I know who I'd like to lay off... And given the cognitive ability displayed in casting a vote for an obvious impostor and fraud -- its likely that this person lacked in the competence department...
But all of that said - the employer needs to judge based on the employee's performance. And not base his layoff decision on the bumper sticker on the guy's car (or whatever metric the employer used to determine the layoffee was an Obama supporter).
the employer needs to judge based on the employee’s performance.
Why? An employer should be able to use any criteria he wants to hire or fire a person for a private business.
