Had the Klan showed up the media would have been beating this like a drum - it would have been Tawana Brawley, Rodney King, and OJ Simpson combined and multiplied to the nth degree.

I find it amusing that conspiracy nuts of all political persuasions can find sinister meaning in innocuous statements and actions...but this was the exact opposite of that.
