March 20 is National Ag Day, but you wouldn't know about it by visiting the web site (right) of Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm (D-Mich.).
Instead of showing support for an industry generating more than $1 billion of revenue annually, Governor Granholm is touting Michigan Meatout Day and encouraging residents of the Great Lake State "to choose not to eat meat," In other words, she's calling for a one-day boycott.
Apparently, Governor Granholm needs to become familiar with the Michigan Food System Profile, a document produced by the Michigan Department of Agriculture that shows where the state ranks nationally in the production of several products, including in the production of hogs and pigs (10th), poultry and eggs (11th), and cattle and calves (26th).
Until she changes her ways, I suggest readers use the contact information below to let Governor Granholm know she needs to remove the "Meatout" information from the state's web site and replace it with information that's really important for the state's future:

Because gawd knows Michigan’s economy is just too great and needs to be toned down.

Well, that’ll do it. She’s going to have the ag community all over her.

I was relieved to see that Meatout day is in Michigan and not San Francisco.

This Granholm chick is a real ditz. Thought things in MI were bad, electing a loon as Gov didn’t seem to help much, now did it?

If I lived in Michigan, she would be prying my steak out of my cold dead hands.

That's OK. We'll help Granholm celebrate her day on March 21st.

Actually, I think this is rather brilliant on her part. I can think of nothing else she could possibly do that would be half as likely to get a lot of people in MI to go out and buy a bunch of steaks or hamburgers or other meat for Saturday as this will.

I have decided that on that day, MrsEx and myself, being Michiganders, will buy meat at Meijer, and eat breakfast, lunch
and supper out at places where meat is served,
and order it in Clueless Jenny Grandtheft's name.I have just called Her Dishonor at the "constituent [dis]services" number listed, and said approximately the following:
"In an effort to prevent Clueless Jenny from destroying yet another Michigan industry, the production of meat, by declaring a 'Meatout' on the 20th, some friends of mine and I will be making a special effort to buy meat in quantity, and will eat every meal out at restaurants that specialize in meat, letting the waitstaff and cooks (wherever possible) know that we are doing so in an effort to save their jobs from her policies.
"Thank you, and have a terrible day."

"Michigan Governor Sides Against Meat, Calls for One-Day Boycott of State's Billion-Dollar Industry"
In other news, Governor Grandholm is advising Michiganders, especially public employees with vacation time coming, of the great tourism opportunities available in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and other scenic midwest vacation spots.
