DeMint 'less confident' GOP can stop health bill

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said Monday that he is "less confident" that his party can stop the Democrats' healthcare reform bill from passing.

The Associated Press reported that DeMint added that he still believes the healthcare bill will be President Barack Obama's "Waterloo."

The conservative senator appeared at a fundraiser for Senate candidate Marco Rubio in the Palmetto State. His announcement came as the House Budget Committee passed a series of fixes to the healthcare reform legislation 21-16, moving the process closer to a final vote.

Last year, DeMint predicted that the healthcare overhaul would "break" the president.

“If we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo, it will break him,” he said.

Mystifying to me, onyx. Leaders should be rallying the troops. We’re in the bottom of the ninth. :)

Or you can work together with those people who are pissed off and do something else: nullification.

Nullification has a long history in this country. Get into your state’s GOP and legislature and nullify the federal laws.

Already, some states are working in that direction with the firearms legislation that challenges the federal government’s regulatory power. Wyoming has fines and imprisonment as punishment for BATFE agents attempting to enforce federal gun laws on guns made and sold in-state.

That is the solution. If it splits this country, so what?

A communist corpse of the old republic is nothing to revere.

You’re talking about my third solution, you see... :-)

The first one was pay no taxes (a big movement, across the board) and shut down government totally.

The second one was (what has been suggested by others) a Civil War (you know... the shooting kind, killing people, blowing up bridges, buildings, killing officials, and “you name it”...).

The third solution is the political solution... doncha know... :-) And with the third solution, the “political solution” — we’re right back to what we’ve been doing all along, in this country with politics... it’s just a different political strategy.

I’m glad to see that some people still have confidence in the political strategy, because things tend to get real messy, real fast, with solutions #1 and #2.

Yeah, even if a large number of people stopped paying taxes, they’d just have Helicopter Ben print up a bunch of Federal Reserve Notes and use them to pay the thugs they have shoot you.

Then most of the people around Free Republic would cheer about how you got what you deserved for “stealing from them”.

Isn’t fiat currency great? Even if the people refuse to pay their taxes, you can still get more of it by just going into debt!

I’m — just sayin’ — if you have enough to do a “honest-to-goodness” Civil War and have a chance of winning it, militarily speaking — then you’ve got enough to really cause the government to totally collapse — if all those same people who will supposedly go on a Civil War (which I hear is a “majority” doncha know... :-) ...) — simply don’t pay any more taxes whatsoever...

It seems to me, that it would be easier to convince this large majority to stop paying all their taxes — than it would be to convince them to go out blowing up bridges and buildings, shooting officials and/or killing other soldiers on the other side... or maybe I’m just thinking about this all wrong or something.

Yeah the republicans I know are going to try to repeal this if it passes once they take back congress. Or continue to fight over the issue. For once they are united on this.

When the bill kicks in or the cost kicks in and everyone is upset, anything is possible. You shall see it. This bill is bad and everyone will be hating it.

Well, I know that anything is possible politically... but I was wondering when the mass of people were going to stop paying their taxes totally... you see... :-)

I’m not going to even start asking who will shoot officials and blow up government buildings and take over previous Federal Territory and steal tanks and planes and block off roads and quarantine areas — until I see who is not paying their taxes, first... doncha know... :-)

I am use to hearing and reading Sarah Palin and her taking on Obama and take no prisoners.

If a person who some think is a leader goes wobbly
What else would HE fold on.
HE gives the people no hope in this and why bother to fight back.

Just glad I am a Sarah Palin supporter and will push ahead
until the vote.

I am use to hearing and reading Sarah Palin and her taking on Obama and take no prisoners.

She's been tweeting and facebooking all day doing what she can to rally the folks.

For just the 2nd time in 22 years, Rush Limbaugh told listeners to call DC and gave out phone numbers.

They're in there pitching. No wobbly from either one of those folks.

There are state govts already doing this. Virginia for one, Wyoming.

If the states and the Supreme Court resist it will go a long way to nullify.

Yes, for those who refuse to read Sarah Palin’s columns
and articles on FB along with her speeches, no wonder they
are bummed out.

Greta had a segment on Rush re getting out the phone calls

Am listening to John Batchelor on WABC
he has on many segments and major guests.
They are on BomaCare and haven’t folded.
Still some out there in the not sure area

I’ve just pinged you all to a good news thread.
Rasmussen’s latest!!!!
Also, Obama is going to be on with Bret Baier tomorrow.
That means he needs the FNC audience. Prayers for Bret to be tough and NOT suckered.

Rush Limbaugh will tell his dolts in one year’s time: “You know, I played golf this weekend with my friends from Aetna, and they told me how good this is for the country...”

Like Rush do you? LOL, don't listen to him much but this doesn't match with the guy I use to listen to. Did his screener hang up on you or something?

“Did his screener hang up on you or something?”

No, the last straw was his “My golfing buddies from GM told me...” Blah, blah. Complete tool. He often uses that ruse about his “friends” with special knowledge, often at golf events, and of course, portrayed as not self-interested persons manipulating the government for their own advantage, as is their duty.

Anyway, no one is better than him at pointing out the character flaws of Democrat politicians.

BTW, never got a complaint about my golf’n’Rush comments before - several times. I suspect this is likely due to the fact that regular Rush listeners know EXACTLY what I writing about!

Used to be that the average state militia had the goodies to give the federal troops a run for their money. And, all of the sides were pretty much aligned geographically.

I dont know what you in your gun safe, but if yours is like mine the contents are no competition for the stuff in the local armory.
