""Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance.""
I'm thinking, I'm thinking.
Ok people, as of today I'm an artist.
Now instead of sending your money to the IRS middleman, just send it directly to me.

while i agree with the sentiment “yes it would be nice to have basic needs taken care of so one could pursue their intersts” (ala a STTNG movie) it isn't feasible. most people would lay around on their butts and watch daytime tv.
i am an artist more specifically a technical illustrator. i create pictures to help people learn and to protect others. i don't throw crap on a canvas and call it art. too many “artists” are “starving” because they create garbage and don't want to “compromise their artistic principals” to create something people would spend money on. i like art but i go to art festivals and at least half of the stuff there i wouldn't show in my house if they gave it to me. as an aside looking at pelousy, boxer, both lee's, murray, degette, etc. are there any intelligent democratic women in congress?
