Why does Sarah Palin support a RINO?
FOX News ^ | 02222010 | foxnews

Posted on 02/22/2010 7:33:59 AM PST by TheDailyChange

I just heard Martha McCallum on FOX News interview JD Hayworth who is running against (RINO) John McCain in Arizona. Martha said that Sarah Palin will be in Arizona throwing her support behind John McCain in a few months in an effort to defeat conservative JD Hayworth. Is this all about GRATITUDE? Does Sarah feel if it were not for John McCain picking her for the VP position that she would not be in this position today. And what does this say about Sarah Palin and politics in general? Has anything REALLY CHANGED?

My guess is that she is being loyal to McCain
he did pick her for VP running mate after all and brought national attention to her allowing her to have a national platform, audience and customers to buy her book

You have to save a dance for the person who brought you. This is a situation where she is damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t.

Because she owes him. She is not immune to political payback.

Reciprocity is the law of life.

After McCain loses, Sarah will be back to normal.

>> And what does this say about Sarah Palin and politics in general?

Loyalty is a virtue. Dance with the one that brung ya. If it weren’t for McCain’s nomination, Palin would be nowhere. It would be a very public slap-in-the-face for her to endorse against the indiviual most responsible for her current political positioning.

My guess is that she’d rather have Hayworth win — she’d just rather he win without her publicly embarrassing the man that jumpstarted her national political career.

One other thing to consider is that Palin knows these players personally while we only know by what we read in the news. I’m not saying I know anything about JD, however, what if this is a situation like if we supported Gov. Sanford during his last election against a RINO and some strong Conservative came out and supported the RINO. Maybe that person knew about the dirt on Sanford (knowing him personally) that hadn’t come out yet.

If not for McCain picking her as his running mate, she would still be the virtually unknown governor of Alaska. She would be running for re-election this year as governor, but would be almost unknown nationally. I think she feels gratitude and loyalty to McCain.

She’s become a formidable power on the national scene in her own right, and will be that way whether McCain wins or loses his election. She just wants to say and do all the right things in this situation.

I don’t think I’d have a problem w/Palin supporting McCain in the general election. But to get involved in a primary, that’s another story.

Looking forward to seeing this endorsement, for sure. One can only imagine to what extent she will endorse McCain.

It's just good manners. Doesn't have to be described as a payback. I wouldn't actually think her endorsement will make much difference though. The anti incumbent fever sweeping the nation is much more powerful. McCain is really getting too old for many in the electorate to feel comfortable with him. Party loyalists understand seniority but independents are sick of it. I just hope JD and McCain can avoid the negative ads unlike Kay Baily Hutchinson and Perry here in Texas.

Sarah needs to approach with caution.

Pay attention to what they DO, not what they SAY.

Look at McCain now — he’s acting like he’s a real conservative, even pandering some to the right. If he gets re-elected, he will bust-a-gut to reach his friends across the aisle again.

Pay attention to what they DO, not what they SAY.

"Palin would be nowhere"

It's amazing how many Freepers do not understand this basic law of politics. According to these people, Palin is supposed to tell McCain "thanks for plucking me out of obscurity and putting me on the national stage. Now I'm going to repay you by supporting your opponent." Few Americans, outside of these reality-challenged Freepers, would look kindly on any pol stabbing a benefactor in the back like that.
