Why is Governor Palin campaigning for McCain?
EEE | 20 JANUARY 2010 | EEE

Someone help me out here. Governor Palin, when she stepped down, said she would campaign on behalf of those who shared her common-sense conservative vision for America, regardless of political party.
So why is she campaigning on behalf of someone who is in their mid-70s, who has been in the Senate since the early 1980s, and who is arguably the most infamous turncoat Republican in the party's history?
I appreciate McCain's military service. I thank him for choosing Palin and putting her on the map, though she was already a popular figure and would have made it on her own regardless if she would have been chosen for VP or not. I admire, but dislike, McCain's anachronistic notion of those in government are supposed to quietly serve and at the end of the day be pals with one another. We voted for McCain because of Palin. But again, McCain is the most feckless, turncoat Republican I've ever seen.
Sarah's endorsement of McCain and subsequent campaigning for him simply doesn't make any sense. Ditto for Perry, who has been Governor already for 10 years. Why does he need to serve another term? For what? Does Palin realize that Republican incumbents are also targeted by the Tea Partiers too?
If Palin would have campaigned for McCain after he won the primary, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I'm sure McCain would still be better than the Dem running against him. But during the primary? Did Hayworth declare at all? Was he thinking of running and now will back out because of Palin's decision?
I will still support Palin but this is very, very discouraging.

Palin owes McCain NOTHING. He owes her the endless gratitude of thanks for sparing him the absolute withering beat down from Obama that he didn’t have to go through thanks to her heroic efforts in 08. Gut check time for Palin, because you never get just McCain in the bargain. He comes as a package with his loony wife and daughter, not to mention his pack of beltway goons that crapped all over her.

McCain—himself—has never to my knowledge said anything but that he admired and supported Palin.

McCain’s senior staffers, on the other hand, were quite obviously mostly a pack of slimy weasels. This reflects on McCain’s judgment in personnel matters, certainly (add it to the things he’s shown poor judgment about) but . . . seriously . . .

Put yourself in Palin’s shoes . . .

The guy picked YOU out of everybody else in the United States to be his Vice-Presidential running mate.

Do you seriously think it would be easy—or even politically smart—to turn around and stab in the back the guy who gave you that honor and opportunity, and thereby put you solidly on the national stage (and incidentally made you a millionaire)? Really?

Really, really?

I think Palin can be criticized for some of the other people she may back, but I give her a pass on McCain, based on personal loyalty and gratitude.

Having said that, and admitting that I am pretty much a solid Palinista, I would like to see McCain honorably retire and hand the seat over to Hayworth, personally. Failing that, if I lived in Arizona, I think I’d be voting in the primary for Hayworth.

I see Sarah Palin as an ally, and, perhaps, a symbol of what a citizen-politician ought to be. But she doesn’t do my thinking for me.

The person who agrees with everything I say is a person that I’ll worry a LOT about . . . and I expect the same from others. I don’t expect 100% lock-step agreement on every single issue. If you’re on-board with advocating liberty vs. collectivism, then I’m on your side.

Afree it’s the right thing to do. McCain has been moderating his “crossing the aisle” positions for some time now. He might feel some significant loyalty to a supportive President Palin in a few years.

So you want to send Sarah packing and give Willard, Huckster and Pawlenty open-field running? She has more stones than all the other contenders combined, period.

I heard that today too... extremely disappointing! Was listening to JD Hayworth’s show tonight and also heard a Robo call made by Scott Brown in support of McCain's run for re election...

Really bad move on her part. The kindest thing she could have done is sit the old goat down and fill him in on the reality that his time has passed.

He needs to pack it in and buy himself a rocking chair.

Sarah, I don't care about that. I don't care that McCain "ripped into" Obama (why he didn't do it during the campaign is beyond me).

Look, the guy is old. He is in his mid-70s and has been in the Senate going on 30 years now. This election, the Tea Parties, the anti-incumbency sweeping the nation....it's going to affect Republicans to.

McCain endorsed and campaigned for Mark Kirk, who is actually more liberal than most Democrats. Will Sarah campaign for Kirk too?

I'm just asking questions here, and trying to recover from the punch to my mid-section.

So let me get this straight, Palin supporters believe that she is a national figure only because she was a VP candidate?

Now, she is a presidential candidate due to the fact that she is a national figure because she was a VP candidate. Got it.
.........................................

How is she NOT a national figure? She has the left and the national media doing cartwheels in agony. She helped destroy the public option simply by speaking out against it. She places near the top of every poll on who the GOP nominee will be in 2012. She sold a huge amount of books nationally. She makes a speech in Hong Kong and it’s the talk of the country. Her every word and action is scrutinized. Gotta face reality!

Where is the link to the story? What are the facts?

Palin mentioned on her Facebook page that she would campaign for McCain. Both O'Reilly and Hannity also asked her and she confirmed.

I have no idea. I am the wrong person to ask. I have no clue why she endorsed him. I knew she would, I wish she had not, but what’s done is done. She endorsed him, but she also endorsed Bachmann and Perry too. Two out of three ain’t bad

So where the hell was his honor when he had more than enough chances to defend her against the Media, his “firends” on the other side of the aisle and most of all from his own people in the campaign?

Well, I could overlook this, but now his wife has stood up for gays, and is for abortion. Someone convince me Sarah is the way to go, cause I’m just not convinced now.

This is all disturbing to say the least.

Agreed. Hayworth is the only threat to McCain. J.C. is not going against Sarah.

RE :”Because she’s a RINO just like McCain? Either that or there is a small shred of truth to the liberals’ suggestions that she is of tiny mental stature...just like McCain.

I made two similar points today:

Instead of trying to read her mind let’s rely solely on Sarah’s statements about McCain.

She called him a patriot and said that he’s an honorable man and that she absolutely adores him. She also stated that she intended to support him 100 percent and she is keeping her word.

Sarah is a politician and like all politicians she will make personal and political decisions her supporters will not always agree with, but nobody should have been surprised by her support of John McCain.
