Why is Governor Palin campaigning for McCain?

Someone help me out here. Governor Palin, when she stepped down, said she would campaign on behalf of those who shared her common-sense conservative vision for America, regardless of political party.
So why is she campaigning on behalf of someone who is in their mid-70s, who has been in the Senate since the early 1980s, and who is arguably the most infamous turncoat Republican in the party's history?
I appreciate McCain's military service. I thank him for choosing Palin and putting her on the map, though she was already a popular figure and would have made it on her own regardless if she would have been chosen for VP or not. I admire, but dislike, McCain's anachronistic notion of those in government are supposed to quietly serve and at the end of the day be pals with one another. We voted for McCain because of Palin. But again, McCain is the most feckless, turncoat Republican I've ever seen.
Sarah's endorsement of McCain and subsequent campaigning for him simply doesn't make any sense. Ditto for Perry, who has been Governor already for 10 years. Why does he need to serve another term? For what? Does Palin realize that Republican incumbents are also targeted by the Tea Partiers too?
If Palin would have campaigned for McCain after he won the primary, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I'm sure McCain would still be better than the Dem running against him. But during the primary? Did Hayworth declare at all? Was he thinking of running and now will back out because of Palin's decision?
I will still support Palin but this is very, very discouraging.

I actually admire the loyalty. It’s called being a decent human being, and I would lose respect for Gov. Palin if she did not support McCain for Senator. For all of Sen McCain’s faults (which are legion at this point), he did bring Gov. Palin to the national fore and I am sure she feels gratitude for the opportunity to be VP on ticket.

For all that, I would not vote for McCain in the primary.

It really doesn’t matter why does it!

Arizona needs to ignore everything but their own hearts and do what they know is right.

Hey did I say I like the idea. I HATE the idea. I hope the people of Arizona throw McCain’s ass out in November

First things first: as Governor, I love my job and I love Alaska. It hurts to make this choice but I am doing what's best for Alaska. I've explained why... though I think of the saying on my parents' refrigerator that says "Don't explain: your friends don't need it and your enemies won't believe you anyway."

Loyalty. She won't through the man who made her a national figure under the bus.

If he called her for a favor to campaign for him, of course she'd say yes. It's the classy thing to do, and she wouldn't think twice.

However, that doesn't mean the crowd has to be enthusiastic for McLame.

Plus, as much as I can’t stand McCain, if he is the primary winner, and he goes against a Dem, I’d rather have McCain win then some Dem

Palin pretty much has no choice, but to campaign for McCain — she has honor and decency.

OK, I'll stipulate to that; but what's the excuse for her support of Perry?

“It’s well-known that McCain wanted to pick the Rat LIE-berman.”

It doesn’t matter whom he was considering, he PICKED Palin. Or are you telling us that Palin was NOT McCain’s running mate?

This is a game changer for me.

I was just thinking that. I guess our honeymoon is over... Who the heck am I gonna root for in '12, now?

One way to look at is that if Sarah didn't help McCain get elected before... what makes us think her endorsement is going to get the desired effect for McCain this election?

The old goat needs to retire.

Palin's first misstep.

I don't like, because McCain never came to her defense, when HIS staffers were out there stabbing her in the back. McCain is a weasel and ought to be defeated. He's not part of the future of the independent conservative agenda and movement.

Loyalty.

Case in point: Gore didn't back Lieberman in 2004. Didn't even tell Joe in advance. Looked like a schm**k, too, doing that.

But then again, he's Gore, he always looks like that.

Scott Brown?

He won in MA and he could beat Obama in 2012. We need someone who can do that, otherwise we can look forward to another term for Obama.

She won't through the man who made her a national figure under the bus.

So let me get this straight, Palin supporters believe that she is a national figure only because she was a VP candidate?

Now, she is a presidential candidate due to the fact that she is a national figure because she was a VP candidate. Got it.

McCain picked her so the media and his own staff could pick her apart. She owes him a swift kick in the nads nothing more.

As I've said before...

The problem is that McCain *is* a Dem.

"[Conservatives are] going to destroy the f*cking [Republican] party...
Why would I want to be the leader of
a party of such a**holes?"

U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, UNKNOWN

"I have to tell you, [Obama] is a decent person, a person that you
do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States."

U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, 10 OCT. 2008

"I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have
no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy."

You and others seem to forget that McCain PICKED Palin as his VP candidate and put her on the map.

Governor Palin was already the most popular Governor in the country a year after her election. There were already rumors of the GOP recruiting her and running in 2012 when she finished her term.

How much name recognition did Palin have before and would have today, if McCain hadn’t picked her as his VP candidate?

She actually had more name recognition than you realize.
Conservatives and FReepers were already mentioning her as a VP pick as far back as early 2007.

Sarah is the most humble, honorable and EFFECTIVE politician I have ever known in my 50+ year lifetime. McCain gave her the chance to be VP. For Sarah to support McCain is Sarah being Sarah. Sarah was TOO GOOD for McCain. McCain needed a scapegoat and he threw her under the bus when they lost. Sarah deserves better. Her family deserves better. Sarah is a bigger man than I am. I would tell Juan McCain to f#ck himself.
