Why is Governor Palin campaigning for McCain?
EEE | 20 JANUARY 2010 | EEE

Someone help me out here. Governor Palin, when she stepped down, said she would campaign on behalf of those who shared her common-sense conservative vision for America, regardless of political party.
So why is she campaigning on behalf of someone who is in their mid-70s, who has been in the Senate since the early 1980s, and who is arguably the most infamous turncoat Republican in the party's history?
I appreciate McCain's military service. I thank him for choosing Palin and putting her on the map, though she was already a popular figure and would have made it on her own regardless if she would have been chosen for VP or not. I admire, but dislike, McCain's anachronistic notion of those in government are supposed to quietly serve and at the end of the day be pals with one another. We voted for McCain because of Palin. But again, McCain is the most feckless, turncoat Republican I've ever seen.
Sarah's endorsement of McCain and subsequent campaigning for him simply doesn't make any sense. Ditto for Perry, who has been Governor already for 10 years. Why does he need to serve another term? For what? Does Palin realize that Republican incumbents are also targeted by the Tea Partiers too?
If Palin would have campaigned for McCain after he won the primary, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I'm sure McCain would still be better than the Dem running against him. But during the primary? Did Hayworth declare at all? Was he thinking of running and now will back out because of Palin's decision?
I will still support Palin but this is very, very discouraging.

” Some of the folks here think he (Scott Brown) is a RINO”

Some of the folks here are ready to throw Sarah Palin under the bus just because she is doing the honorable thing and is supporting the man who gave her a chance on the national stage. Some folks here rather see the Dems and Obama continue to dominate and destroy the country, our freedoms and our very lives, rather than support someone who may not be doing 110% of what they personally would like. If only these people here were half as though on the Democrats...

You may not want to be like “some folks here”.

I'm still shivering from the bucket of cold Alaskan water thrown over me.

McCain showed absolutely NO honor in putting the arm on Sarah to support him and his liberal ways. How can she support anyone like that?

On the other hand, if he DIDN'T put the arm on her and she OFFERED to campaign for him, then that also speaks volumes to me.

What an absolutely dumb, stupid political move on her part.

It shows me she doesn't want to run for prez....perhaps preferring a career in television show biz. I also think she's naively attaching herself to McManiac because he's the liberal media's darling of the decade.

I'll bet conservatives like Joe the Plumber are taking the pipe right about now.

I believe that Governor Palin bases her actions on the fact that she’s loyal to people and not ideology. She has said that she found Senator McCain to be an “honorable” man and admired the man for his service to our nation, his sacrifice and torture during 7 years as a POW. I don’t know for sure, but I’ll bet that she considers the fact that he’s pro-life more important than almost anything else.

.... He was actually ripping into Obama, for the first time, he actually sounded, sorta Conservative.

Too little way too late. I too am befuddled by her support of the man who would turn the "R" party into a wing of the "D" Party. So from here on out I will be viewing what she says about being conservative with a very wary eye and a bit of reserved suspicion. If it turns out that she is jumping into bed with RINO's behind the scenes she will lose any support or respect that I have for her.

Conservatives really like Palin. I like Palin. But I personally am not 100% sure what she would do as President. If she runs, she’ll have to take positions on a whole bunch of issues, and if she takes too many positions I don’t like, she could lose me.

Some have called Palin’s support of McCain a deal breaker for them. I don’t see it that way at all, but it isn’t something I think positively about. She does stuff like that over and over, and she’ll lose people.

I would like to see McCain lose in the Republican Primary to someone more conservative. Not only is McCain a RINO, he’s influential. Someone who’s equally a RINO, but less influential, would be an improvement.

Well, what do people do if Hayworth doesn’t run? Do people support Simcox in the Primary?

If they don't like McCain, why not?

About all I can say about him is that he and Gilchrist defended the border from the invaders, they formed the "Minutemen" org. I read one of their books giving details of their struggle.

There may have been some infighting--I really don't know more than that but there are people here on FR from AZ & wish they would explain it. Haworth has only till the 3lst to file & needs $$.

If I lived there I would vote for anyone to retire Juan Hernandez McCain.

I don’t like Mccain at all, but on balance I can easily live with this decision as I would like Palin less if she was ungrateful and disloyal. As important as postions and policies are, I respect character too.
************************************************************

Fine, but if McCain gets relected and decides to form one of his “Gang of 7’s” and sides with the Democrates on something like comprehensive immigration reform, don’t come here bi***ing about it.

This man has screwed conservatives for years, and there’s no excuse (not even loyalty) for Palin to be offering up her support to him! Her first loyalties should be to her country! McCain is what’s wrong with our party!

Why is this surprising to anyone? Not only did she campaign for McCain ONE YEAR AGO for PRESIDENT, SHE WAS HIS RUNNING MATE FOR VP. Has everyone forgot this little fact? It would be totally CONTRADICTORY for her to say "Yes, I'll campaign for him to be President, and I'll even run on the same ticket with him, but I will NOT campaign for him to be a US Senator". Now THAT would be idiotic and nonsensical. Palin also said in her interview with Glenn Beck that McCain has taken more conservative views since Obama's been in office.

And to those of you who think this is "dumb" politically for her, SHE DOESN'T CARE IF IT IS OR NOT! She is doing what she believes is right. Go read her book! She talks about a time when she endorsed someone else over her husband's step-mother which led to a spat with Todd because Todd's family had been extremely loyal to Sarah. Sarah realized she backed another candidate because of her own poltical considerations. She admitted what she did was WRONG and vowed to NEVER make that mistake again. She will be LOYAL to those who have been loyal to her, regardless of the political calculations.

To those of you ready to abandon her because of her support of McCain, what planet were you on a year ago? SHE FULLY SUPPORTED HIM, and YOU fully supported her. Now you want to act "shocked" because she continues to support McCain?

Utterly ridiculous and laughable.

When you all get done picking the bones of every candidate, what’s left? Who’s left? People were so upset and wanted rid of Bush so bad, they could taste it. They got it, and look what they got.

Some on this forum remind me of a neighborhood child who when she didn’t get her way, would take her toys and go home.

Scott Brown has also endorsed McCain. It’s only right since McCain campaigned for Brown.

Exactly. Sarah knows what is best for our nation. Clearly that is to support McCain.

Sarah is a woman of principle.

If she were to tell McCain to get lost it would prove she was NOT a principled person. I don't get why everyone has their panties in a wad over this. I know most here don't like McCain. There are some things he has said and done over the years that have drove me nuts. Yet, he reached out to a true conservative for his VP nominee. Sarah took the offer. How in the world could she say "I will enthusiastically support you for President, but I won't campaign for you for the Senate", a job he already held when she joined his campaign?

No, I am supporting John McCain just like Sarah is. Anyone good enough for Sarah is good enough for me.

Study up on Simcox's time with the Minute Men and the issue of how some of their donations were spent.

Too many see where a stands on the issues as the only principles when in actuality, loyalty must be included as well. Plus, there are a few Palin haters running amok on the board and they are taking this as an opportunity to try to turn others against her.
