John 1:1-3 - The King James Bible says that the word was God. However other translations render the verse as “a god” or “divine.” A godlike spirit person.

Come on out and say it, the only current ‘translation’ is the New World Translation and that has been refuted over and over again. You will not find a ‘godlike spirit person’ ANYWHERE in the Greek.

JW's quibble about the greek, trying to get "the Word was with God and the Word was A god". That is the point trying to be made, but failing miserably. The JW New World Translation (NWT) carries the error, but fails to translate "ton theon" consistently throughout the NT. You are correct in that all of the reputable translations (by people who KNOW Greek, incontrast to those who wrote NWT) read as you pointed out.
