Did Congress pass Obamacare at 1:00 a.m. this morning? One could be forgiven for thinking so. But one would be wrong. Today's vote was only a cloture vote to shut off debate. But months of vigorous opposition by the American people and a civil war in the Democrat Party has raised the profile of the legislation to unprecedented heights in the public eye. The cloture vote was widely reported to be 'the' vote. To 'Kerry' something is no longer a safe hiding place. If a Senator tries to Kerry this thing by telling his constituents that he 'voted for it before he voted against it,' people will just chuckle and tell him he isn't fooling anyone.
So the cloture vote was a vote for Obamacare.

You are absolutely correct...THIS is where the big fight will be...
What is really in this legislation that they are willing to “die” for it?
From Kim Strassel in The Wall Street Journal:
“So why the stubborn insistence on passing health reform? Think big. The liberal wing of the party the Barney Franks, the David Obeys are focused beyond November 2010, to the long-term political prize. They want a health-care program that inevitably leads to a value-added tax and a permanent welfare state. Big government then becomes fact, and another Ronald Reagan becomes impossible. See Continental Europe.”
>>Im not going to be able to enjoy Christmas at all.<<
Our Lord never said life would be easy. I’ll trust in Him to make it through.
Merry Christmas my FRiend!
It helps to remember that our time on Earth is only a test. We’re challenged to do the right thing, even when it is difficult, uncomfortable, or unpopular to do so.
What kind of a test would it be if everything was always hunky-dorey?
Keep up the good fight. God is still in control.
Good post!
Amen!
LOL!!!!
Ain’t that the truth!
The only hope is that they won’t be able to work out a passable version in conference.
hmmm.
This was roughly my comment this weekend as well. Except that mine involved rope and lampposts.
The next couple of months promises to be interesting, particularly if unemployment takes another jog upward, as what I've read is predicting.
Nothing worse for politicians than angry, armed citizens that are out of work, just had most of what they have left confiscated, and have nothing better to do.
Truly, history does repeat itself, but only if those in power choose to ignore it.
Our Lord's will, will be done. He gives me strength.
Happy Birthday Jesus!
Amen.
It will be tough, but we will all make it through.
(I’m pretty discouraged myself, btw)
You are optimistic I admire that
For the politicians, the only thing worse than a half million losing there jobs each month is a half million running out of unemployment each month. That is a half million potential Timothy McVeighs - every month.
Eventually it will bite you.
While it is appalling that individuals like Nelson can set aside their, ahem, principles in exchange for a payout, perhaps this suggests a winning strategy.
Those of us living in states with hard core leftist Senators have had no chance to be heard. But now we can ask our Senators, WHAT DID YOU GET FOR THE CITIZENS OF YOUR STATE?
If old lady Landrieu got $300 million for LA and Nelson got perpetual federal funding of increased Medicare costs for NE, WHAT DID YOU GET FOR US IN YOUR STATE?
This is a lose - lose for them: if they got nothing, they've proven to be worthless. If they got something, they are self-serving whores. QED.
Reid and his ilk were just having a news conference with some big wig from the AMA saying how supportive the AMA is of this bill.
AMA stands alone..Here's the truth:
Another less heard of physicans association "Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, Inc." A Voice for Private Physicians Since 1943 DOES NOT SUPPORT HEALTH CARE REFORM!!
They have a great web site.
sw
I know the real problems are yet to come...but what I said isn't wrong.
Americans will go back to sleep.
Whenever I see Byrd I think of "Weekend at Bernie's." Has anyone taken Byrd's pulse lately?
Aye!
