“I think highly of Billy Graham, but did you know that he is a registered Democrat? It is maddening! How could ANYONE who is pro-life, vote for a dem?
He also spoke highly of x42 in his book “Just as I am.”

I live in the South, too, and my county is about 90 percent Democrat, but it doesn’t mean they vote that way, especially on the national leve. It’s just tradition here. There’s a lot of elderly people who are FDR, “Old South” Democrats. Most of the local elected officials are Democrats. But just as we have RINOs, here where I live they are DINOs. They are very conservative, pro-life and anti-gay and nothing like the national Democrats. They are actually Republicans but they don’t care to admit it. My county, which is about 10-to-1 in favor of the Democrats, voted for McCain by a 56-44 percent margin. Go figure.

Two things: 1. so you think that merely being registered a Democrat means something is wrong with you? Don't forget that Zell Miller was a Democrat (who was more sane than most Republicans today.

2. I take it you think that our Republican party is just dandy now. I would venture that about two thirds or our party need to have their ass kicked out. (RINOs)

Ditto to what you said-—my dad back home in the mountains of southwestern Virginia is an old school FDR/Truman democrat and would NEVER change his party affiliation to Republican, even though his personal ideology is far more Conservative than those who currently run the Rat party. Just won’t happen, and like you said, it’s more tradition than anything else.

to answer your questions-

1. so you think that merely being registered a Democrat means something is wrong with you? Why YES! Yes I DO! Yes, I too know many NICE, Christian elderly folks who are registered Dems (Roosevelt dems) and STILL VOTE for Dems. Clearly they are suffering from dementia to some extent.

2. I take it you think that our Republican party is just dandy now.

Heck NO!

I held my nose and voted AGAINST Osamabama. Because I am a true conservative, I no longer consider myself to be a Republican. I’ve had to vote for THEM in an attempt to try stop the flow of tyranny as the Dems take over this country.

This was a very good thing to do. To establish a relationship with Mr. Graham, gain a bit of his wisdom, spiritually mentorship and keep herself in the media spotlight.

It’s good to see Mr. Graham again too.

Muzzle_em, I can agree with you more, I grew up in a Republican household and have lived politics since I can remember. I do not consider myself a republican any longer...it is a party that has lost it’s moral foundation and is not united by common values anylonger.

One wonders how much platform division the Republican Party can withstand before it cannot be considered a party any longer?

I consider myself a Constitutional conservative now.

I have several friends who call themselves liberal, but in talking with them I find that like those of us who are very conservative, what they REALLY want is to be left alone and LESS government intrusion into their lives. I think they consider it cool and hip to have the “liberal” label.

THey tend to vote with the dems because they buy into the dem message that conservatives are dangerous and want to control their lives when in fact it is the dems who wish to do that.

THe past 2 elections, hubby and I were to the point of really not wanting to go vote because we felt like our values are not represented, but it was NECESSARY to vote against “the evil ONE.”

Also, I’m from Ga. and did vote for Zell. Sam Nunn also. THose are the only times I have voted for dems.
