The islamasists know this is wrong but do it anyway.
The only way they can redeem themselves is through martyrdom.

This was the conclusion that one author (can't remember who) made concerning the 9/11 mob. They were Western educated, successful, and loved to party. Their education, success, and excesses didn't square with their religious leaders. So, to redeem their souls, they have to be martyrs.

Since their god is the king of death, their beliefs bring them full circle, back to death.
They have no redeemer but themselves and it results in nothing but death.
