I would move the discussion straight to the mods thread and ask them about using freepmail to welcome newbies. The rest of is can say hi and welcome as requested unless they are obvious trolls. The mod’s posts on that particular thread says it all. (Newbies vs trolls)

Based on what I'm reading here, FR has chosen to take the Olympia Snowe route of POSER.
