Rush Limbaugh's bid to buy the St. Louis Rams ran into opposition within the NFL on Tuesday. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay vowed to vote against him and commissioner Roger Goodell said the conservative commentator's "divisive" comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider.

My opinion of the Colts organization has gone severely south.

No more rooting for old hometown team, Indianapolis Colts and owner Jim Irsay until I hear the players rejection of Jim Irsay and his divisive ways. Otherwise the Colts are not worthy.

You’ve got to remember Jimmy is second generation owner - he inherited the team. It’s easier to be a liberal weenie when you don’t do the hard work.

The organization or the owner? The organization is pretty good, but the Irsays have always been a little on the disreputable side. Reference the Baltimore Colts’ midnight move to Indianapolis.

Yep and he will save millions. Who the hell wants to pay that much money to go to one of those games anyway.

Gotta disagree. College football is painful to watch from a talent standpoint, though lately the NFL’s lows (Raiders, Rams) are worse than college football’s highs. I think a healthy Gators squad would beat the Raiders right now. But I don’t think anyone who watched Jets @ Dolphins yesterday night would say the NFL is lame.

Well, looks like I will have to find a new sport to follow. This is just crap. I know there are freepers who know Goodall, and have said he's a stand up kinda guy, but he has proven with actions he isn't.

As the Herd Espn guy said today, actions speak louder than words. And when you have second chances given to black NFL players who torture animals, beat women, brandish weapons and leave a man permanently paralyzed yet go after a man who's only crime was words, there is something seriously wrong.

Yeah, there is. A league that has given second chances to criminal men who get no scorn from even the loudest black activists won't even give one chance to a man who's crime is words.

Irsay is an ass. What a shame such a fine team is associated with him.

Funny thing is, I don't remember all these high horse sports writers and public figures objecting to the NY Knicks hiring Isiah Thomas, who said the EXACT thing about Larry Bird that they accuse Rush of saying about Donovan McNabb.

"If Larry Bird were black, he'd be just another good player."

The other difference is that Rush was right about McNabb, while Thomas was idiotic about Bird.

Perhaps Roger Goodell should come out and say No White Guys should apply.

Declare there is not enough BLACK OWNERS and The St. Louis Ram the NFL's Affirmative Action team.

It wasn’t mandated, it was allowed for breast cancer awareness month. Blame Favre’s wife, once she got diagnosed the NFL became big on breast cancer.

I was hoping he’d buy a radio station(s).

*****************************************

USA based AM radio is about to get bi*ch slapped by Obama ... If Rush buys a radio station it should be ship based transmitters with AM and shortwave capability fed by satellite.

Hey, but its perfectly ok to reinstate a long time animal abuser as an NFL quaterback. Or how about NFL players, past and present, who actually are felons? All that’s perfectly fine. That tells me all I need to know about the ethics and morality of everyone associated with the NFL.

I’ll answser back the only way I can—Won’t spend a dime or and an iota of my time on the NFL.

Goodell so far hasn’t done anything. He’s letting the bid and negotiation process run, if Rush wins it’ll come to a vote of the owners, I’m not sure the commish even gets a vote. So far Goodell has kept his mouth shut about the whole thing.

"Divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about," Goodell said. "I would not want to see those kind of comments from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL."

I have spent year praying the NFL would install an affirmative action program. I would love to play wide out for my team but they apparently discriminate against slow white guys with limited college football experience.

Definitely. But a lot of team owners are either jerks (Robert Kraft) or incompetent (Daniel Snyder.)

More importantly than Irsay, though, commissioner Roger Goodell wasn’t exactly positive about Limbaugh’s bid. The stupid thing is, Limbaugh would be a minority owner: Checketts is making the primary bid. Limbaugh and a few others are just contributing some money to the pile.
