A 10-minute video showing the impact of bullets on various targets at 1 million frames per second. It was made by German engineer Werner Mehl who created the PVM-21 infrared chronograph, in many respects the most sophisticated ballistic speed-measuring system.

Instead of the dumb music, I would have preferred some info on what exactly the bullets were hitting and what type of bullets they were. Otherwise it is very cool.

What’s interesting is how similar those impacts are (albeit on a smaller scale) to the depictions of meteor/asteroid impacts.

I’m with you Karl. I’m nowhere close to an engineer but my dad was a metalurgy and ballistics expert. I would love to know calibers, loads, distances, projectile and target makeups, velocities AND foot-pounds of terminal impact.

Terminal ballistics as art. Nice.
I would like more tech info. Maybe rather than the creators copyright, he could put bullet specs and target consistency stats on the video. Then it would be art and science.
