Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
Thanks for this post. I learned some things about Orff that I didn’t know.
BTW, I adore Carmina Burana. Even saw a live performance of it about ten years ago.
No mention of ‘Die Kluge’ - why? To my ear right up there with Carmina Burana. ‘Der Mond’ also merits mention.
And as an aside - Orff’s Carmina Burana sadly ranks high with other music (Strauss, Beethoven, Ravel,...) raped by popular culture (aka, Hollywood). How many out there would *not* associate Orff with ‘The Omen’, Strauss with Stanly Kubrik, Ravel with Bo Derek, Beethoven’s 9th with - well, whatever needs to sound festive...? I find it hard, frankly, to listen to some of these works without that mental intrusion sometimes.
Thanks for the ping!
