Thanks for this post. I learned some things about Orff that I didn’t know.

BTW, I adore Carmina Burana. Even saw a live performance of it about ten years ago.

Was it just the orchestra and choral group??

The Hartford (CT) Ballet did (does?) a wonderful ballet to this piece. I have seen it several times, and it is FANTASTIC!!

To “see the performance” - the Orchestra is in the pit, and on each side of the stage - the choir is garbed in the robes common to the Monks of the middle ages ...and center stage is the ballet group. (Going by 20 year old memory - the choir might have 70 - 80 members/soloists split between the 2 sides, and perhaps 20 - 30 dancers participating in the ballet.)

The ballet choreography really helps understand the piece!! Complete with a jester, a fair maiden, the wenches and the partying people!
