Fringe Media Protects Van Jones

A majority of the nation receives its news from Fox News. I have been arguing to friends recently that the Main Stream Media is actually outlets such as Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, and that NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN are actually the fringe media due to their low ratings and viewership.

This brings me to a story from Byron York in today's Washington Examiner. Mr. York takes a look at the amount of coverage that the Van Jones controversy is receiving from "fringe" media outlets. The results are not very surprising:

From a Nexis search a few moments ago:

Total words about the Van Jones controversy in the New York Times: 0. Total words about the Van Jones controversy in the Washington Post: 0. Total words about the Van Jones controversy on NBC Nightly News: 0. Total words about the Van Jones controversy on ABC World News: 0. Total words about the Van Jones controversy on CBS Evening News: 0.

If you were to receive all your news from any one of these outlets, or even all of them together, and you heard about some sort of controversy involving President Obama's Special Adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, your response would be, "Huh?" If you heard that that adviser, Van Jones, had apologized for a number of remarks and positions in the recent past, your response would be, "What?" And if you were in the Obama White House monitoring the Jones situation, you would be hoping that the news organizations listed above continue to hold the line -- otherwise, Jones, who is quite well thought of in Obama circles, would be history.

I just did a google search on Van Jones and the only major newsmedia is the Fox. This man is very radical and I am shocked that NO OTHER news network has reported on him. The MSM gets worse and more nontrustworthy everyday.

Don’t be too shocked - the MSM (except Fox) is so in the tank for this guy that you won’t hear anything about Van Jones. Why are all of Barack Obama’s closest buddies rabid America haters? Just coincidence? Not trying to sound conspiratorial, but I feel the U.S. is being Bolsheviked ala Russia 1917. The similarities are creepy.

The Democratic Underground gets it. One of their posters says: “...it won’t be long before it’s announced that he has to “spend some time with his family”. “

Which is why they are losing more and more of their audience.

As soon as the Huffington Post and Daily Kos calls in question Van Jones' qualifications (which may happen sooner than you think), he'll be gone faster than you can say The Zero.

I can see the Huffington Post doing that, but I would be surprised if Daily Kos does. They will go down with the ship.

I don’t know—when Democratic Underground is already grumbling about Van Jones’ statements, that’s already approaching the point that President Obama may ask for Van Jones stepping down—if only for good PR reasons!
