It depends on where he lives. He might get very little in some jurisdictions, and a lot in others.
parsy, who has seen this kind of stuff go for very little because the defense knows the jurisdiction is made up of conservatives and they are likely to dominate jury pool

What a dilemna for you.
Well, if they tell you you can’t fish any more, or violate your rights in some other way, “Just keep your head down and mouth shut and the government will leave you alone.”

Law Professor (attorney) advice about talking to police — “Never under any circumstances!” :-)
Talking to the Police by Professor James Duane - 47:14 - Jul 15, 2008
Professor James Duanes now famous 5th Amendment lecture - popularly known as Dont talk to the police! - has amassed a considerable internet following. The lecture, given as part of Regent Law Schools spring preview weekend.

ALSO..., in that lecture is a police investigator on why one should *never* talk to the police — even “innocent people”...
“George Bruch from the Virginia Beach police department responds to Professor James Duane’s presentation on why innocent people should never talk to the police.”

What the hell does race have to do with any of this?"Her," ain't a race. Long and not all together happy experience has admittedly left me with a very jaundiced eye, and perhaps an overly sensitive antenna, for female police sergeants, lieutenants, captains, and chiefs.
Thanks to your kind reminder, I shall keep an open mind on the subject.

NO! You will love this. One of them arrogantly told me that they were RECORDING THE WHOLE THING. There is a TAPE of the entire incident.
Don't worry about the tape. If it helps your case it will disappear.

The cops didn’t act stupidly, they acted criminally. Until law enforcement begins doing a better job recruiting, training, managing, and “policing” themselves I am going to continue to presume that they ALL fall into the criminal and dumbass category until they individually demonstrate to the contrary. The majority of LEOs that are good and honest have only their peers, not the public, to blame.

Did they teach you to spell Sargeant in law school?
To: politicalmerc
Don’t let them get away with this blatant violation of your constitutional rights. The politizied police are just a small part of the Asylum of our Era.

NO! You will love this. One of them arrogantly told me that they were RECORDING THE WHOLE THING. There is a TAPE of the entire incident.Unless you are in physical possession of that tape I doubt it. Everything that you said that could possibly be taken out of context, misconstrued or slanted has been transcribed and the tape itself has been destroyed so that there is no evidence of anything they said which would substantiate any accusations the perp (I mean you, and yes, you do detect irony there) might make.

You might want to hire a paralegal to check the spelling, punctuation and grammar on any suit you might file, because yours are pretty atrocious.I've an acquaintance who just passed the bar. He seems incapable of written communication.

you shudda spanked them --
At least a letter of complaint--and insisting on a written delineation of their egregious breach of your rights... with apology!
Their assumptions and actions are based on OUR lack of assertive response--- during or after the fact!
Just my humble... no flames intended

You said — It is the lack of a search warrant or arrest warrant that sends me a red flag.
—
Well..., you don’t have to say that to me (LOL...) ... unlike many FReepers that I see posting here... I contend that even if he did steal the money, and he was a confirmed and convicted criminal, five times in the past — and it’s sitting in a shoebox in his bedroom, that they still need a search warrant... :-)

You have to figure they are plotting a way to make you regret filing charges. Better make sure they don’t “lose” the tape.
To: politicalmerc
When I finished this cool, calm, and collected accusation of her Sargent, she said the most breath taking thing I have ever heard an officer say:
"Well Sir, the officers were their investigating a complaint. You could have just cooperated and made everything much easier on everyone."
You should have gone Gran Torino on her and said, "If you're ever raped, ask yourself if you should just cooperate, and maybe the rapist will go away."
BTW, Nuke these bastards. Please.
