I am not sure if he has two or three sides to his mouth.

He is calling for socialized medicine, wanting to make health care affordable to all, by lowering costs and fees that can be charged. He wants medical professionals to lower their expectations of what to charge, in order to be able to provide service to more people at a lower cost.

He may not call it socialized medicine, but when it is all said and done, we all will have to wait for healthcare. We all will be passing through some sort of governmental strainer.

In talking about the economy today, he said “"Innovation has been essential to our prosperity in the past, and it will be essential to our prosperity in the future,". Sounds logical. But those are not his thoughts when it comes to health care. He wants to stifle innovation and research.

No one is going to want to work for nothing. The people and companies that drives the research industry in this country, are being asked, no told, by Obama, that their ride is over.

If there are to be advances in medical research, then it is not going to be coming out of his health care plan. It is like he wants to stop all advances and all progress toward treatments and cures, by taking away the profit structure that feeds those endeavors.

He wants to stop, and put a hold on our care and treatments, just as they are. No more advancements. No more innovative research.

No more profits to power the industry that is working on cures for cancer, aids, and heart disease.

But know this.

When he is done messing things up, you can...

BINGO! When the profit is taken away, all there will be is a bottomless pit of costs. No profit or profit incentive to invent the cutting edge treatments that start out as expensive and eventually become affordable to all via the free market system.

“But don’t bellyache about it.
The odds are, you voted for him.
So if you did vote for him, you are responsible for the condition he has put us all in.
Thanks. You did no one any favors.”

How many will deny it? As long as they are still on the list to get care all of them will

Wait until the end of life counselor pays them a visit. Then they will see what they have done.

Obama and many others (probably everybody) has a problem in dealing with "scale". Let me give you an example ~ USPS has just under 800,000 full or part time employees. It had revenues/costs in 2008 of about $75,000,000,000.

In contrast the entire medical community in the United States consists of about 800,000 doctors, dentists, nurses, med techs, administrators, etc. That community had revenues/costs in 2007 of about $2,276,000,000,000.

BTW, that's about 30 times the revenues/costs of USPS.

The real killer in this is that as USPS has become less and less labor dependent, the medical community has too. That 800,000 employment figure has been pretty constant for a long time.

What Obama and his people think is that they can get medical care down to the cost of a First-Class stamp ~ but that's not going to happen. Nor will the elderly stand still for being CANCELLED.

The true test is this: is Congress willing to give up their health care and be tossed in the same sty they are preparing for the rest of us? The answer to that is no. They put a provision into the House bill exempting themselves from the bill. Elitist bas....s.

If they want to get serious about healthcare here are some considerations. Healthcare is available to everyone, right now. That's right. You get hurt, you need to be treated, the ER must see you and treat you, period. You want healthcare made available to everyone, it is, right now. So two of their major talking points are non-starters. Everyone gets seen, and everyone can get healthcare if they want it.

So what is the problem? Cost. For some people healthcare is simply out of reach. Some choose to prioritize it lower than other things. But the main factor is cost. How can we not only control the ballooning costs, but reduce them. The answer to that, I believe lies outside the medical field - in law. Tort reform would go a long way to towards reducing healthcare costs. Not just through reduced malpractice suits, although that would certainly help. But also through reduced tests and procedures. Chances are, if you go into a medical facility for something even as relatively cut and dried as a broken bone you will be subject to a battery of tests. At least an X-Ray, maybe an MRI, probably a blood test, etc. etc. Why? Because medical personnel, their hospitals/clinics, an their insurers fear lawsuits. Better to blow a few hundred bucks on un-needed tests just to CYA. That way if for some rare reason something else happens or goes wrong, you won't be seeing that person in court. Well, you probably will. But at least the Dr. and facility can make the argument they did everything in their power to diagnose and treat you.

Reduce the threat of frivolous lawsuits and you'll see not only malpractice insurance costs directly reduced, but also many of the secondary tests/costs Dr.s and facilities mandate.

I agree with all you said.

My In-Laws are both having health problems. We go Monday to check on them. Plan to bring them home with us on Wednesday for at least a week. Possibly for good.

We had them with us 1 other time for a week and they decided to go back home to Amarillo. Retirement community in a cottage. (1/2 duplex) Nursing staff is there 24/7 in main building for emergencies.

Father-in-law has Alzheimers and Parkinson’s. Mother-in-law has had 2 strokes and early stages of dementia. Neither doing well. Almost 24-7 home health care with them. Managing that remotely is a real problem. Not sure how to handle my Father-in-law, great guy, such a shame. Lots of problems, and not sure how long we could manage keeping him. We shall see.

As long as Obama has his gold plated health care, why should he care what happens to us serfs when we get sick?

They’re just taking everything over so they can get all of our money anyway.

What a nightmare this guy has been in just 7 months.

Hillary believed - and still believes - this too.

With a vengence (despite the cringing grumbling of the suckers).
