Here is video of Glenn Beck and Kimberly Guilfoyle today talking about the fact that users of the Government's "Cars.gov" website actually are giving the government ongoing access to their computer. The "Privacy Agreement" - not read by many users - says that once connected to their system, the government considers the computer property of the U.S. Government.
Guilfoyle points out that once a computer uses the Cars.gov system, the government can continue to track a user and potentially access information. . . . . . (Watch Video)

I saw that, today. Would a ‘proxy condom’ help in any way to keep the feds from tracking your computer activity?
And foreign governments as well.....
..... your computer is now considered the property of the Federal Government, including all content on your computer, and gives access to both the US and foreign governments
This is why I like Beck. Who else would bring this stuff out?
Glenn posted this on Twitter:
“This c4c story is a ruse! We broke the story about what appears to be a government computer worm(all legal)that has GLOBAL implications.”
Wonder wassup with that?
I guess he is saying that the Cars for Cash (c4c) is a SCAM.
a proxy condom
I accessed the cars.gov site with proxy, firefox. Cookies and java, etc. disabled. Didn’t try to sign up for anything, though.
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
Microsoft already owns all those computers and their contents that have gone on line with Vista. They said so when they were first promoting Vista prior to release. They said the same sort of thing when they were preparing to release XP. Is the government going to thus seize MSFT property?
GLOBAL is the scariest part. What does Europe etc. have to do with our auto program? Worse yet, how many GLOBAL worms does our own government have out there?
Tyranny.
I’m not sure if he’s saying the C4C program is an excuse to run what he is calling a worm (basically if you log onto the CARS system you are giving them total access which is kinda like having a worm infect your machine), what he may mean is that they are using programs like these (the C4C) that get people directly involved in a government program which gives them the opportunity to stick their hand in your home and say we now own your computer and everything on it.
I would like to make sure people realize it is not just going to the CARS website that does anything, it’s participating in the program that brings up the policy screen that you must agree to in order to proceed.
So one would actually need to log on, not just visit the site?
Correct. As (sort of) explained on Beck’s show, they can legally have this policy because you are volunteering to log on to their computer system. The web page itself has a privacy policy that is similar to many other websites and does not have the dramatic statements of the one that pops up and you have to click “I Agree” to proceed.
In looking at that graph showing percentage of cars of a given age in the US, it’s quite obvious the “cash for clunkers” program was not thought through, and no one did any math on it either.
Thanks. I’m on dial-up right now and any videos, youtube stuff, etc., are impossible to view.
I had gone out to the cars.gov site, but did not log in to anything. I actually didn’t even see anything to log in for, apart from a place for updates, but I didn’t hang around to see what came up.
But is this real or a sick joke. If real, where does the government get the power to do that. it is like calling your senator and finding that gives the government the right to invade your home and conduct a search???
This is the sort of thing that will turn pissed off folk into violent ones.
I don’t understand how the govt can make a zombie out of your computer legally without a warrant. I say zombie because once they say your computer belongs to the govt can they not use is as a server at their whim along with just the general snooping in one’s system?
Hitler would love this sort of stuff.
1. This page is not on the cars.gov website. There is no way to even get there from cars.gov so his warning not to go there was complete fear-mongering. If he didn't know this then his research team really needs to go!
2. It is only available to pre-authorized dealers who are accessing govt records (VIN, etc.) and transferring thousands of dollars.
3. As over the top as it is, this sort of language is fairly common on governmnent websites and has been for many years.
