Rush is very impressive in this interview. I have to start listening more often to his radio program in the mornings if I get a chance.

I watched part one, about to watch part two. I think he did a great job in part one. A lot of times he seems to do badly in interviews. He’s trying to fit so much in, and he’s used to having all that time behind the EIB mike to make his points. He tends to—no pun intended—rush in interviews. I think one reason this one works so well is he has plenty of time to work with. You can’t do a quick interview with El Rushbo. The man needs some time to get it all out. He’s not a soundbite kind of guy. He’s got lots of great nuggets, but they have to be allowed to breathe a little. Hard to believe I’ve been listening to his show for 17 years now.

I respect Rush, too. He reflects back the feedback he is getting from his listeners. His listeners reflect the base of the GOP when the GOP was reflecting the ideas and culture of the base.

One thing that happened that was bad for conservatives is that once we got Bush in, we stopped evaluating and challenging the elite’s ideas and actions; the Rinos in the party. In fact we let them take over the party and let Democrats dominate the leadership of the US. Rush’s shows reflected this lack of brain thrust and care about what was going on.

For example, we had conservative Republicans pushing health care reform that would have assisted those who did not have access to health care and not taken over the industry; but we never heard about it. It was defeated by the Rinos and Democrats because they want socialized medicine. We let Bush enact that huge drug program in reaction to the Left. Rush and conservatives never talked about it; the media, ofcourse did not cover it and conservative ideas and reform stopped. We were not working an agenda of reform under the radar.

Conservatives stopped focusing on reforming and that is the whole purpose of our existence - to make this government smaller and make people freer.

We should have been after defunding planned parenthoood, ACORN, etc.

We should have opposed aspects of the Patriot Act as it unfolded and we should have fought back when the Left media screeched about FEMA’s action in N.O. which resulted in a huge expansion of power, spending and loss of freedom in police state power.

Lots of stuff and we spit at Rush like it is his fault or at the GOP like it is a disembodied organization exclusive of us, serving us. It only serves those who embody it with activity and action. Rush only reflects what he is hearing from the base. It is our fault for not having a reform agenda to constantly push and for not running and directing the GOP from the grass roots.

The only faithful conservatives have been the pro life groups and that is only one part of the conservative agenda for reform. We are not weak victims; we have the power and the brain thrust (Cato and Heritage) to take over the whole shabang.
