True, but what if he was a traitor American soldier? How does that work itself out?

We should do everything we can to bring him home safely. Then, if there is cause, we can court martial him. And if the decision were that he needed to be shot, then we would shoot him.

But we cannot ask the terrorists to kill our soldiers on our behalf. That's madness.

No, that is what we should do for a loyal American Soldier.

If there is reason to believe he is a traitor, we should bring him back home safely, if we can do it without endangering any loyal troops. Almost all of our troops would take on danger to rescue a captured comrade, but we should never ask them to do that for a deserter.
