Tom Friedmans' Curious Defense of Cap and Trade
The Provocateur ^ | 07/01/2009 | Mike Volpe

Imagine a defense that starts like this.

There is much in the House cap-and-trade energy bill that just passed that I absolutely hate. It is too weak in key areas and way too complicated in others. A simple, straightforward carbon tax would have made much more sense than this Rube Goldberg contraption. It is pathetic that we couldn’t do better. It is appalling that so much had to be given away to polluters. It stinks. It’s a mess. I detest it.

He likes it because “ If the U.S. government puts a price on carbon, even a weak one, it will usher in a new mind-set among consumers, investors, farmers, innovators and entrepreneurs that in time will make a big difference —”

Yes, it will make a big difference. We will all be working tirelessly to throw bums out of office and take back our country from the communist loons that infest our government. We might then take a close look at the media sycophants that carry the water enabling their unconstitutional power grab. It would be nice to see Liberal unemployment rates in the double digit column for a change. It would be nice to make politicians criminally and civilly liable for the money they steal.
