Today, at least, no one can say that our legislators didn't earn their salaries. It was a rather long day in the House and it only just ended with the House approving cap and trade 219-212. Initially, in the morning, news reports expected the House to vote on the bill sometime in the afternoon. The afternoon came and went and the rumors began that the Democrats didn't have the votes to pass it. Then, we got to 5 PM ET and suddenly things truly turned surreal. John Boehner stepped to the floor. In the middle of his speech, Boehner put on his reading glasses and began reading from the bill. Its sponsor, Henry Waxman, had snuck in a 300 page amendment early this morning. Boehner began reading from the amendment. I

Lets get the count. Who voted for this monstrosity ?
How do you ‘sneak in’ a 300 page amendment ?!?
I am appalled that this crap is going on in this country and the sheeple are not saying anything about it. Our paper has not had any articles on this cap and trade and since I do not watch the other media, I just wonder how many people are aware of this bill and what it is going to mean to them.
Timely post. I was down to trying to decide between a dull blade or a sharp blade and this gave me hope we may be able to survive after all.
you write it in the middle of the night and put into the final bill for a vote. It’s really, unfortunately, not all that difficult.
Yes, the commies were really on display today. They could not even fool a dead man now. Although there are a lot of dead people who still vote for them.....
Youtube set up ‘citizentube’ to cover the Iran revolution.
So what is posted up there today?
A (redacted) INFOMERTIAL for USA.GOV !!!
It is so bad, it almost must be a parody, but it isn’t.
BS! The ones who "earned" their salary would be the ones who read and understand what they voted on and I'm betting none of them did.
Our government became a joke on us a long time ago and they just keep repeating the punchline.
Not sure if this is correct. Here is Connie Mack's website. It's ambiguous to be sure concerning his vote.
I made a copy of it in case we need it.
I agree. It'll never get through the Senate as it is, and even if the Senate passes it in altered form, it'll blow up in conference and the final votes in both houses.
The thing that bugs me the most about this is that Pelosi and Waxman got their way today.
It's Bono-Mack, widow of Sonny Bono and wife of Connie Mack. And many of the 44 Dem defectors were actually for the bill but were allowed by Pelosi to vote nay to give them cover in the 2010 elections. It is no coincidence the vote was so close. It was engineered that way. The eight CINOs not only voted to end the free market they also helped re elect democrats.
They didn’t get their way. They barely held a majority even though they hold a forty some vote majority. This is when the president is still very popular. What will happen in a few months when he’s less popular?
By the way, I don’t much about any of the yea voters but Mark Kirk. He’s almost certainly going to run for U.S. Senator and he’s a front runner. Anyone living in the state should let him know that this vote is unacceptable if he wants to be a U.S. Senator.
Boortz will be in rare form Monday ,, Mack is his congressman.
They don't even know what we are being taxed for! They didn't even read it.
That sure isn't any kind of representation!
Our only hope is in the senate. In that regard I’m dead because my senators are Chris “countrywide” Dodd and Lieberman. I pray that this turkey goes down in the senate and the Mau Mau wastes all his political capitol on it.
There were a few RATs that played the fence and voted no but there was a lot of dissent. The vote was expected to be close and it was. There are plenty of Blue Dogs that have some common sense.
But wouldn’t you just love to know who was in each camp? Which ones had actual objection to a bill no one even read? Which ones played the politics game to the nth degree no matter what was on the table?
You throw it in the mix in the middle of the night...at 3:09 am... without notice. Easy.
